So my friend tells me last night that a buddy of his is doing a buy in with vortech and that all he needs is one person. I was told that i could get the SC at cost. Anyone know what price i would be looking at and if this would be a good deal? How does this kit compare to other SC's or even the Greddy TT kit? Thanks for the help!
I believe dealer cost, which is different than manufacture cost is somewhere around $3800-4000, should depend on how many you buy. There is also a tuner kit, you should make sure he's not trying to sell you that one.

HAHA He IM'd me a few mins ago and told me 4800 for the satin blower and 5200 for the polished! LMAO I told him his friend was full of s***. He said "i'll see if i can get him to give u a better price" so i threw in "i think i'd eventually rather go TT instead but even if i did want the Vortech i wouldn't buy it from him since he thinks he's slick and $4800 is his 'cost'"! Thanks for all your input tho guys. Hope this story has been somewhat entertaining for you all!

ive seen a couple websites that sell the kit for about $4500 satin...so that couldnt be their cost.

It just goes to show that volume dictates the dealer's cost. Here's a funny scenario: I work for Sherwin-Williams (sales rep for residential industry) and S-W as a company owns Minwax (among several other brands). We have 3000 retail outlets, yet our cost for the Minwax brand is about the selling price at Lowes or Walmart . . .
Our parent distribution treats us just like anyone else. It's all about volume (and contract negotiation). Nevertheless, try to buy a product from a source close to the manufacturer. Jobbers and unauthorized dealers (who purchase from another distributor) only open the door for headache (research my TT install--lots of questions, lots of missing parts, and mismatching of essential equipment). All that to save a buck--bad idea.
Most authorized dealers will attempt to match pricing, so go that route. Sorry, got a little off topic

350g hit the nail on the head.
Just because person a sells it for 4500 does not mean person b can afford to sell it for that. I know we talked to Vortec about going directly a few months back and cost would have still been more than 4500 per kit..that was with a modest 2 kit buy in. Perhaps if we bought 20 kits, like some of their big dealers may, the price would drop significantly. Problem for us was the Z is the only application they offer that we cater to, as we are not a "one size fits all" sort of group.
Forced - makes sense to me though. They don't have the cash to do a buy in, so they let their customers do the buy in for them.
