My PE turbos are water cooled. I told my installer to go ahead and hook them up with the idea that we could disconnect them if it negatively affected the coolant temperature.
Basically the two turbos each have their water feed/return in parallel rather than in series.

On a hot day with the air conditioner on, the radiator fan does come on at idle with greater frequency than before--but the coolant temperature does not rise above normal (at least according to the gauge on the dashboard). I have not tracked the car, but I'm assuming that radiator/pump upgrades might be needed if I did.

Incidentally, I held a Garrett GT28R and a PE IHI turbo in each hand and I would swear that there are more than just coincidental similarities between the two.

It seems like people are saying get the PE if you want to leave it at that. If you want to make a monster, go with Greddy. Just what I have observed reading this.

Not too bad... I'll be connecting the water cooling lines soon.

Sharif... there is almost no water flowing through the turbos when the car is running, as they are connceted in parallel. The idea is that whne you shut off the car and the water stops circulating, a properly connceted water coolign setup will result in an effect call heat-syphoning. The water will go from hot to cold, essentially, taking the heat with it. Sort of what the turbo timer is doing, but to a FAR FAR more efficient degree. Accordign to Corky Bell, water cooled turbos last "about twice as long" as non-water cooled turbos.

Steve, the engine is seeing greater cooling effort because of the general increase in underhood temps, not b/c watercooling is connceted.

is there a warranty on the PE exhaust, if say, the manifolds brake. Also, is there a way to extend their life?

I just installed Flex Sections near my manifolds... that should extend their life significantly.

Just an FYI, this is the reason GReddy went with cast manifolds instead of welded SS. GReddy made welded SS manifolds for the TD05-18G kit for the 300ZX and they crack every time, flex pipe or not.

I heard that PE is switching to cast manifolds. Is this true?

I've heard the same rumor but haven't seen them switch so it's just a rumor.

they WILL be going cast... but the last news is that it is delayed. Will NOT be around for SEMA. Most likely, it is going to be next year.

I had the kit for about 4000 miles now, and had THREE manifold cracks. It is a f-ing nightmare.

You Z guys are lucky.... you have got the APS kit tha you can get. That is what I would do if I had a Z, no question, with 70% of the reason being the manifolds.

Wow Gurgen, 3 manifolds already.. hopefully they go cast to save the future PE owners some headache. The APS kit does look very promising and complete.

Gurgen, I'm curious why Chebosto and BigBlackTrack, and myself haven't run into the cracked manifold issue yet. Perhaps the G design is a bit different ?

I believe the latest theory is that his Stillen Exhaust, which does not come with flex lines, is acting like a long torque arm, ripping apart his manifolds with every rock of the engine.

Good thing I installed flex sections on my Borla TD I guess?
