Yup, still around. After posting so much on Freshalloy, I didn't have anything left to say!!! Now I was trying to decide on another car and realized I was looking for a G35 coupe, but with more power. No one else offers something like that so I think i am going to try to make it myself. The turbonetics and the APS are at the top of my list, but the price difference is helping me lean toward the Turbonetics kit. We'll see what comes from it. How about you??

I was talking about piggybacks, reflashes, and standalones with a friend of mine the other day.

Can someone explain exactly what Turbonetics did to the stock ECU to make it monitor boost over 1 bar? Technically, if they changed the stock map to a 3 bar...they could run as much boost as you could on the kit and the kit would technically, run just like a car that came with F/I from the factory.

I think the reflashed ECU still uses the stock MAF not MAP. So it's just monitoring airflow, not manifold pressure.

Correct...the reflash just modifies that fuel and timing map but ECU adjustment still uses the MAF....

So Turbonetics leaves it up to the wastegate to regulate boost?

Thats the purpose of the wastegate.... Every kit does that...the only reason that other kits have boost adjustability is beacuse they modify the signal going to the wastegate. In every turbo system the wastegate is there to regulate boost.

is there a significant power loss with the cat version? Also i would assume the non cat version is very loud and would bring alot of unwanted attention.

Actually its not bad at all sound wise. Most of that depends on the exhaust you run. Remember a turbo acts as a 33% muffler of exhaust sound... I will post clips of my car and you can see for yourself... as for power loss I will be testing this soon. I'm going to get power numbers with the cat and emissions numbers to show it will pass the sniffer.
