Default My Buildup Progress..

ok i was asked to start a thread about my engine buildup and how everything is going so here it is. first off let me say that all labor was done by myslef this includes building the engine installing everything. the only thing i did not do on my own was gap my rings and balance the assembly i had a local machine shop do it. the whole actual building of the engine and putting everything on the car took me 1 week.
the only thing i have done to the actual internals was just put the arias pistons which are stock bore size and 8.5 compression. and the pauter rods which are the ones everyone has gone with. the heads were not touched and i put the stock cams back in. i was on a tight budget so i decided i was not gonna do tha top end till myabee later down the line. so pretty much all i have is rods and pistons. now the fuel system is what everyone else uses also. i have aeromtive fuel regulator returned back to the top of the fuel pump assembly. i also epoxied the stock one so it doesnt do anything any more. i have my fuel pressure set at 50psi and its a 1:1 regulator so it rises under boost. i also have the walbro 255 high pressure pump in there. i still have the stock greddy injectors which are 440cc and the stock emange file that comes with the greddy. i also have the technosqare reflash to cover the timing. i had all this done when i was running the stock block. well thats really all that in the car. oh the transmission is stock 6 speed with a spec stage 3 clutch(holding very well!) everything else in the drivline is stock including the suspension. i have run 12 psi on pump gas for a few weeks now with the stock greddy map and 440cc injectors and my a/f stays at 10.98-11.1 it never goes above that. im thinking becuase of the 1:1 ratio of the regulator and the fact that i have 8.5 compression now is alowing me to boost this high with the 440cc. ive gone to the track already with 3 boost settings on 10psi my car went 11.6@122 on 12psi it went 11.4@125 and i put 103 octane in it to try and squeeze more boost out of it but it didnt work out i did hit 13.6 psi which gave me 11.6@127 as you can tell i have run 11.6 with only 10psi my problem is traction i have et streets and they still spin even at 12psi of tire pressure. best 60ft i have cut is 1.78 i plan on going to a 27 inch quik time pro so that can get the traction and not have to shift into 5th at the end of the track likei do now. they say for every inch of tire you can run 12mph more in each gear. i should be able to cross the traps in 4th. that is basicly it. very minor modifictions have been done and the car is runnning very strong. wait till i get those bigger injectors and actually tune the car!!

Couple of quick questions.

How do the pistons sound on a cold start? Any increase in noise?

How does the engine sound when it's fully warmed up?

Have you dynoed yet? If so....what was the power?

Hows does the low end and part throttle and full throttle repsonse feel? same as stock? Or slightly worser? Or much worse?

Thanks!!!

Great to hear Alfred on your build up. Get that beast on a dyno and see what's it's pushing out now. Pics as well if you have them.

TIA

I cant believe you did the buildup in your garage. Nice work.

What did you gap your compression ring at?
