Default i need injector help

ok, heres the deal. im running the vortech with the 9lb pulley, thinking about going to 10+lb.

during precious discussions about the different kinds of FI, a point was brought up about the vortech system, since there are no new injectors with the kit, people say that the factory ones are maxed out, i called TS and they said that they indeed are maxed out. i was told that they will only last a year or two.

anyway, since its getting a little colder here, i was told to be careful during winter months because the colder air will cause the SC to be more efficient, run more boost and a cooler charge, causing the need for fuel to increase, and since we are at 150+% already, and 90+psi of fuel pressure, this could cause some lean conditions and possible KABOOM!

heres the deal, i was gonna buy some RC 440 injectors and use those, but wasnt sure if the SS box could pull enough fuel so that the car wouldnt be pig rich, they told me it would be fine. then i called TS and they said to NOT get the 440s because they were not designed for our cars, the spray pattern was totally different, and the reason Greddy used them is because they were cheap, so he recommended the PE 380s, either way he said i would need a reflash.

heres my question, what do i do now, will i need to change the disk in the vortech FMU if i get bigger injectors, should i even worry about it, and just buy some new factory injectors in a year and just swap them out, i dont want them to get stuck open or die on me and pop my motor, im kinda scared to get on it when its real cold, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

i'd go with the 380ccs. They same to be working well on everyone who has one and honestly better safe then sorry. It only takes one injector to fail and you are f@cked.

but if you think about it, if the factory ones are 300s and they are at 150%, the 380s wouldnt really be enough either, but i guess they would be a little safer, i think i need more than that.

380's won't be enough for 9+lbs after 6400rpms or so with just the TS reflash and upgraded fuel system. TS doesn't control the injectors during partial throttle conditons either such as highway cruising. In fact they don't change anything until full throttle and above 5200rpms. Therefore your car, like mine, will run rich and check engine lights will occur. This really hasn't been talked about too much openly but alot of people are haveing this same issue. However when you floor it the A/F is very steady(11.7) until 6400rpms and hauls ***. 440's won't be enough either and their spray pattern is very good and lots of people are using them but for less boost or using an inline pump. 520's or bigger will be what you need. Emanage will help scale them under partial throttle conditions if I'm not mistaken.

OK here is the deal.

1.RC 550 injectors

2.Use R4 to scale injectors – basic reduction of 20-25%% across the fuel maps

3.Let R4 do all the adjustments, don’t get TS flash for adjustment purposes.

4.No FMU adjustments necessary

Note: My injectors let go after 4500 miles on the car in Texas heat, its just a matter of time for the rest of the SC guys.

My car will be out of the body shop in a few weeks and then I will hit the dyno. They already have the RC550 installed and working. The last remaining thing is AF adjustments under boost and I am complete. Once my system is tuned I will post my maps on my web site: www.dfwg35.com

You have to get high(saturation) type.

I agree, 440s are a minimum and are cheap if you can find them used. You could pick up some plug-n-play PE510s, but they're only found new/expensive.

Once you go to bigger injectors, you'll need to drop down on "washer" size in your inline pump to reduce excessive fuel pressure.

If it were me, I'd get the PE 510's - same price as the 380,s and more than enough for 400 whp

380's are too small..I agree with everyone here. If you have the cash, spring for the PE 510's. If you are on a budget, and wanna try something unique....I would ditch the R4 software altogether, get an eManage, and some RC 550''s.
