I should be getting my car back this Tuesday. w/ Greddy TT w/ FMIC, borla true dual exhaust...
I want to install a blow off valve, i have seen some pics of some of your guy's cars that have had them welded on right after the intercooler.
My question...Is something I could take to a machine shop/welder and just tell them where i want it and that's it???
or is there tuning that needs to be done, anything to watch out for or make sure i do???
any feedback always greatly appreciated!!
also, anyone know the difficulty in installing the greddy ignition harness to control timing?? is there a bit of tuning that needs to be done with this as well??
thanks!

Yes just go to your shop where it will be welded on. They will take the pipe off, burn a hole in the pipe for the flange and then weld the flange on. After the blowoff valve is on you need to run a vacuum line from the blowoff valve to some source of manifold pressure. Thats all you really need to do to put a blow off valve on your car. I would recommend you put it on after the intercooler so the common air from both turbos is being released, if not i would put 2 blowoff valve on before the intercooler, one for each turbo. I have seen it done both ways.

thanks for the info... so there is no exact tuning or setting of the valve as it relates to pounds of boost? or is this something that has to be fine tuned?
I guess technically you can fine tune a blowoff valve. At what boost you want the valve to open, but there is no real science to doing that. More or less just trial and error where you like it. Just screw the adjusting nut on top of the valve left and right and drive it around and do it again until it is where you want it.
Don't hold me to it, but i have heard that tightening down the bov till it shudders is bad. Since it is so tight and can't stay open the whole time it cause some compressor surge which in the long run could mess up the compressor wheel. Anybody else want to chime in to confirm this thought, feel free cause i'm not 100% sure on that.
