Smile 1/4 Drag Results--First time ever! 10psi

Well, I finally took my car out for the first time to the 1/4 drag. I was really pleased with the results...especially for a rookie.

My 60foot time'es sucked. I have no doubt this is a low 12 sec car with slicks and more practice.

Setup:

19 inch Volk GT-C's
Toyo T1-S 275's
EDFC on full soft rear, full stiff front
Avoided water box
2 second dry burnout
2500rpm launch
100 octane fuel for safety
10psi
Stock shiiity clutch

Yippie!

12.837 @ 114.34mph

Nice GQ! I have yet to go to the track to time my car. I hope to hit the 12's myself. I never do a burnout when I go...part of it is I dont know how, and part of it is that I dont want to ruin my new Toyos. They are way too expensive to do that on! Well I need a helmet before I can go to the track.

Even when I ran a series of high 12's, they didnt ask me to use a helmet. I think you need to to shock them with a mid to low 12 before they make you wear a helmet. I brought one just in case.

Good idea! I wanna see their mouths drop and on my second run to have them ask me for a helmet. I think that would be pretty funny. LOL

Excellent Sharif...
I know Tony (Wld350Z) will send praise too !

He mentioned today on a run to the Imperial Valley - a hotty truck was tailgating and he took the car up to 177 Kph ( MPH 125 ) to clear traffic.. Not fast but quickly... -

Cheers and Regards Amy -

Hey G35TT...yeah...your 60ft times are sick. Nice work. Which tires did you run on the track?

At 10psi...I bet you'll be in the high 11's...

Congrats on breaking into the 12's on your first try. My first time at the track was at 7.5 psi for a 13.0, and my best 60 ft was a 2.3. I need to try a 10 psi run.

Good times man...Get that 60 ft to 2.0 or 1.9 and I'll be damned if you dont break 11s.

That's awesome, Sharif! I saw the 12.8 run... very nice.

Unfortunately, my luck was not as good. Best time I mustered all day was 13.8 and best speed was a 109mph run (these on different runs). I just could not get my car to hook up well... which is funny because on the return road running next to the track I could launch like a rocket... immediate hookup... oh, well. I also think the 10K+ miles on my plugs since putting in the SC may be a problem. I suspect I am way overdue for a tuneup... gives me a reason to go back and try again.

Also, how were you running at the end of the track? I found I was hitting redline in 4th gear right as I passed the traps.

Anyway, 60' times looked like yours... 2.4-2.5sec range, but you need to work on that reaction time, bro! Mine were all <.10 and most were .04-.05. Sure, it doesn't mean anything for your trap numbers, but in a real race, reaction time matters.

Finally, I know Lightning Guy will eventually make his way out here to post, but he pulled a beautiful 12.69 sec run. Speed was low because his gear runs out before he hits the end of the track... I think the speed was 104mph

It was a very fun afternoon. Hopefully next time we can see a few more Zs out there.

Sharif, if you're interested in trying again after tweaking, we can go hit the 1/8 in Mooresville sometime.

McDuck,
Somethings not right. Did your car feel as strong as normal? A best of 109 mph seems really slow for the HP you have. Even if you are spinning all the way down the track. I bet GQ was spinning badly and still trapped 114 mph. I raced another 350Z 6MT (at the track) that trapped 116mph while spinning sideways. You should be at least in the 112-113 mph range. (Unless you have a 5AT which traps 3-4 mph slower)

Look at several of the S/Ced autos trapping 108-109 at 12.9-13.1. I for one spun all the way down the track (thanks to the torque converter) and even had to let off the gas. I had trap speeds inline with yours with my 5AT. My times were 13.1's and I was pretty unhappy and I was only boosting 8.2psi.

GQ......get some BFG DR tires and I know you are high 11's in the qrt. I had them and its impossible to spin the tires after there warmed up. They hook like CRAZY.
