Default analog inputs for SS box, R4 , Vortech

I want a data logging option for the track. I have the LM-1 product by Innovate and I'm aware of their new "auxbox". Total expense of $589 for both. LM1 has worked fine for logging A/F alone.

Split Second said they would make me a new box for the Vortech for $579 that would add the 4 aux inputs you see available in the R4 software.

So, I'm thinking I'd sell the LM1 and have SS do that because it would be a cleaner install... (currently have the LM1 and corresponding wires/cables behind the passengers seat, plus finding a place for the auxbox)

Would there be any advantages/disadvantages to doing this besides having to install the new SS box?

Thanks,
Stuart

I called Split Second about this several months ago. I didn't ask about price but they seemed to want to sell me a new box (BTW they already have one available). I didn't think to ask about a trade in. Maybe if we can get a few people interested, they will give us a discount. One thing to mention is that Vortech installs the software, not SS. You are going to need the R4 software to save/load your maps.

I'm using the R4 software currently. That is what prompted me to call them about activating the 4 aux inputs. The Vortech implementation of the box is not wired for the extra inputs. Hence the reason for a box that is. Same model number just wired differently...

No trade in. Did not ask about a group price.

Any more opinions from the rest of the Vortech owners?

Default ss box

I know I would be interested . I have been looking into some thing that can data long A/F , boost and rpm at the same time to tune it . It does boost and rpm now and adding A/F and fuel preasure would be great . It would be a much cleaner install than using some thing else for that ...... Bill

Bill, I'll call Mark at SS and see if he'll drop the price for a group...

Won't have to wait long...

Mark prefers to do group buys through a shop.

I can have the owner of Elite call them to get a price and let you know what we are looking at... or if there is a concensus on another shop I'd be open to that as well. Maybe Grubbs???

I looked into this too before I bought a AEM wideband and SS told me that when you order a Vortech you can have them add the other channels in. I wish I knew what I know now. They told me the same about no trade in, and no return for updating. I would love to have everything together.

Only problem I see is that you have to be connected to the box and have the software running to log. Which means on the track I would have to figure out how to secure the laptop and have it pass inspection...

Any ideas???

One of the best thing they could do is make a box with 100rpm increments instead 500rpm . It would make it much easier to tune . Who ever talks to them should ask if that is possible

I spoke to Vortech about the 100 increments and they said they have no plans on making this change ƒ¼ . You guys should call John at Grubbs about the data logging box, he has his own custom box that Vortech made for him that does what you guys are after (I believe)

Default Update

The owner of Elite is willing to facilitate this group buy for the fully functional FTC1 for our Vortech kit. He is heading to SEMA but the guy that did the initial tune on my car is going to call Split Second for the details. I hope to have pricing in the next day or two.

I'll start a new thread when everything is detailed.

Other than asking about the 100 rpm increment adjustment, is there anything else anyone wants to ask SS about the FTC1?

I am definately interested in this also. I am tuning the car myself using the AEM and it makes it hard not being able to datalog the air fuel ratio. If I had know ahead of time that our ss box didn't have any aux. inputs I would have gone with a different wide band. Also, not to get off topic, but is there any way you could email me your maps enthuzd. We have the exact same mods except I have kinetx high flow cats and I just want to compare your map values with the ones I have so far. Thanks

Not sure if you guys noticed the new post or not... but came up with a group price of $485 shipped for the new FTC1.

Still interested?

This is with the aux input options, 0-5volts? Still a lot to swallow...I bet it's just a lead on a circuit board that needs soldered in.

Somebody should buy one and then compare the circuit boards of the two. $485 is a good bit to swallow especially since we would not be getting any credit for the old one. Might be a good eBay item.
