Default Vortech Custom ideas, need input and answers

Ok guys, it might be time for me to give into FI. I'm looking at the vortech kit, even though I like the HKS more, it's a money issue at the present time. A few things im considering:
1)custom powdercoating the charger housing and piping to match my color scheme
(would it be better to go with the polished or the satin finishes? Which would be better to powdercoat?)

2)using an HKS BOV instead of the vortech (nothing wrong with the vortech, I just like the HKS better)

Also, i am very curious to see if anyone has found solutions to some of the issues that plague the vortech kits. I'm mainly concerned about the belt noise, the rattling noise (sounds like a spray paint can), and timing control module faults. Anyone have any input on these?

I'm pretty curious to see what you guys have to say about some of this.
Thanks!

If $$ is a big concern .. why are you powdercoating the blower .. and buying a new BOV ...

ask this in the FI section .. youll get more responses

The polished finish is more expensive, so if you're going to powdercoat anyway, go with the satin. When I bought my kit, the piping and I/C had already been coated black and it looks good.

If you want to fix the belt noise, don't use the one that comes with the kit. I've gone through 3 that just never stopped stretching and finally switched to a Gates 93 inch belt. Once it's adjusted after the initial stretch, I haven't had a single problem with it since.

I haven't had any rattling noise and like any other kit, you need a good, slightly safe tune to make it run well. If you're having someone do the tuning for you, make sure they're experienced.

BTW, thread moved.

Any SC is going to make some noise . The Vortech I believe is the Quietest . Its the BOV that is loud . Buy the filter that Vortech has for it and stuff it full of foam from a foam type air filter [ I used a shop vac filter ] The Gates belt is a must . You will like the Vortech over the HKS , for the power and tunability ...Good luck
