Vortech Installed!
Well it took me about 22 hours, but the Vortech is installed and the car actually runs!. I can't really rev it over 4500 rpm as I start to lose power. This is more than likely due to the advanced timing of the ECU reflash I had done a couple months ago. At least I hope! I'm getting the car tuned asap at Altered Atmosphere hopefully this week, so I'll post dyno #'s then.
The install took me 2 hours Wed., 3 hours Thurs., 6 hours on Friday and 11 hours on Sat. It helped to do it over several days mentally and physically I think. Nothing was particularly complicated, but I wouldn't recommend attempting the install unless you have a ton of tools and a good bit of experience working on cars.
My kit was missing the 5/8 to 5/16 reducer for the fuel line connection between FMU and the fuel pump. No parts store sold one so I fabricated one out of a 5/8 to 5/16 brass PCV valve by Dremmeling out the center and the external threads. I used some epoxy on the 5/8 side to ensure a solid connection. I actually think the connection truned out better because both side of the fabricated reducer go further into the hoses.
All in all it was a very tiring and rewarding experience and it will be a while before I do something like that again.
Can't wait to get her tuned so I can take it to redline!!
Later!

welcome to FI ...One ? Im not sure about what you had done with your ECU ...but I dont think timing advance of one or two degree's is going to hurt your power after 4,500rpm . [I may be wrong ] You may be having a fuel problem . Vacuum leak , bad connection , belt slippiing . Let us know when you find the problem......Bill
Congrats! That is about the same install timeline that I did, several hours over several days. I agree with booger, it is probably not related to timing. I would definitely keep the RPMs down until you get it tuned.
Steve,
Glad to hear the install went good. Let me know what mumbers you get after Altered tunes it. Be sure they use the R4 software from splitsecond. Are you considering guages....I would recommend the apexi that Aletered set me up with. Good luck with everything.

I might suggest you check the + and - connections on the fuel pump. Had a similar situation. Did not find it until we put a pressure gage and volt meter on the fuel line and noticed at 4500 rpm the Vortech SC fuel pump was not kicking on. Very easy to reverse the connection.

I wasn't expecting the timing to do anything too negative, but what you are saying about the fuel makes sense. Better fix it today before I blow my car up! Thanks again!

Well I just switched the wires on the inline fuel pump and drove back to work, and everything is running great! Revved it up to maybe 5800 rpm with no problems at all... Thanks to all for the advice!
I'm getting it tuned on Friday so I'll poste the numbers then. Hey Aron, I'm installing a Zeitronix probably over the weekend. Those Apexi gauges are cool but expensive...
