Default Vortech Drivers - What's your daily commute?

Hey all you Vortech guys

I wanted to know what kind of daily commutes you guys do? Lots of traffic? Stop and go?

I will be doing a 20 mile run down the freeway (~75-80mph) then I exit and I am in traffic for 10 minutes (~25 mph stop and go)

I just want to know how the car is gonna act and all that.

My mods on top of the blower will be the Kinetix Plenum, RT or Crawford Cats and the Borla TD.

Also, anyone know if JWT Clutch/Flywheel combo is a good choice for FI?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

I do alot of stop and goes. My commute is less than 5 miles a day so i'll usually take long routes just to drive. Is it bad to boost up every day? I was always wondering this.

Just as long as you don't push it hard everyday I think you should be fine. It is all about how you take care of the kit and try not to constitantly be on the boost ya know? so many things play apart of the kits reliability. Don't abuse it and you should be fine. (I think)

My only experience with a high mile Vortech car is my co-worker's Dinan 540i. It is SC'ed with now 186,00 miles on it. It was installed at 48,000 miles. She lives down the street from me and has made this commute for 4 years with it now, no problems (except for her auto tranny).

Regardless, it is not a Z, but it shows that as long as you aren't boosting on it .. it isn't really stressing too much on the engine.

I am looking to run the stock boost and get a nice clean safe tune. Shoot for 360whp or so.

28 mile freeway commute each way. Traffic is a crap shoot, some days it is 30 minutes and some days an hour and 30 minutes. I have 15000 boosted miles that includes about 5 track days. 31000 total miles in 2 years and I really only get to drive it 7 months of the year.

I don't know how you guys can stay off the boost. I don't think that I have been in the car when it didn't see redline at least once during the journey... I average 20-21mpg.

I drive about 4 miles each way on 35 mph streets. As long as you drive it "normally" you should be OK. The key to longevity is how you drive it.

Well, the Vortech is in my hands right now .... I'm giddy as a schoolgirl

Installation won't take place for at least a month though.

Check the Private Classifieds - Jim Warehouse Blowout beigins soon.

Basically, I have to unload a grip of **** I have lying around the house in order to "reimburse" myself so I can happily install it.

Anyhow .... another Vortech Z ... Jan 1, 2005 or so ... well, after CES .. come find me in the Pioneer booth
