if you get a true dual cat-back system, it will replace the y-pipe, and everything after that.

hope this helps
thanx jasperg35 - that was extremeley helpful

I'm pretty sure on my old '95 Mustang GT that there was a Y-pipe coming out of the headers and into the cats. That was the source of my confusion.

I read up a bit and I think I'm just gonna get some high-flow cats before I eventually get a full cat-back system, rather than add-on piece by piece. But good luck to everyone getting the gruppe-s y-pipe - you are definitely getting some quick bang for your buck!

so does this mean we can buy them now? for 215 shipped? or does this mean we can order them for 215, and wait for 30 people to call? and then they get shipped? please help.

the fujitsubo is the same size as the gruppe-s, and quite a few people have seen good results. same with unlimited tuning. its a good design.

Who makes a y-pipe that improves the flow AND fits in with stock exhaust diameters on both ends?
you're right. it does create turbulence. however, if you look at the sizes 2.25 (stock) to 2.5 (gruppe-s, fuji, u/t), it's only a 1/4", which is a 1/8" lip. and obviously double for the outlet. i'm just pointing out that the gain/loss is about 1-2 hp. if this important to you, you can purchase sleeve adapters to step up/down gradually, to eliminate the sudden changes in backpressure.

just my 2 cents.

sorry - the people who do make a y-pipe replacement to fit stock sizes:
nfc motorsports (i am not able to find the website anymore)
kinetix (i actually bought this already - it didn't fit well)

if you find someone who makes a good y-pipe AND fits, please pm me - i'm all for it. but i'll have to be convinced that 2hp (possibly) is worth enough for me to remove my gruppe-s. also if you can find one for this price, again, please let me know.

please excuse my ignorance. i called gruppe-s. they do not have enough to satisfy the entire group order. so if you call (510) 783-5300, ask for rudy. he is the one taking orders for this. they are expecting a shipment towards the end of the month. he is asking for about 50% down ($100 should do), you can pay the full amount if you wish.
