So I'm literally a day or two away from ordering one of these + the 13" Stoptech kit.

The flex have nutty spring rates, but the EDFC should help. I do autocross about 15 times a year, but the G is also a daily driver. The JIC are harder to adjust, but the spring rates are less mental.

What about the Flex, but with maybe a 590lb spring on the front instead of the 672lb? Anybody have the newer flex with 672 all 'round? How are they on the street? My 05 6MT w/sport package has stiffer springs than the 04's, but I don't know by how much, nor any info on the sway bars.

Just not sure of how bad flex would be on the street, as I can't find anyone local with that setup. Any opinions welcomed, I'm leaning towards the flex.

 

i just installed the CS w/ edfc over the JIC's and love them. I was going to get the JIC's.. and loved them on my S2000 but the teins are very comfortable..

 

I have the Flex with EDFC in my coupe. Yes, the ride will be stiffer than stock, though not to the point where I regret having made the upgrade. Although if you live in a area with really bad roads (some metro areas on the East Coast for example) you might want to think twice about the upgrade if you intend to use the coupe as a daily driver.

I also AutoX my coupe (I also do HPDE's and performance clinics) and the upgrade has made the coupe's turn-in much better and some of the oversteer has been dialed down considerably through a combination of stiffer polyurethane bushings on the stock sway bars, different tire sizes, professional corner-weighting, and EDFC settings.

JICs are fine, but I have read about bad customer service from them in the USA.

The roads out here are pretty good so I'll give them a chance.

 

I'm sure you could order the Tein Flex with the JDM spring rates of 560 ft lbs.

 

road condition here in Austin is pretty bad.. any recommandation for suspension that gives comfort..

 

will the edfc work with the tockico Dspec shocks?

 

hey with the tein flex and edfc do u need a camber kit?

 

- an authorized Tein dealer won't sell the JDM ones - it's "grey market"

-Tein CS are supposedly the most comfortable

- EDFC works only with Tein shocks

- Camber kit depends on drop - minimum drop is like 1/2 inch so that should be OK. drop it over 3/4 inch and you will need a camber kit

 

I don't see why it would be a problem for a shop to import the JDM versions or just the springs.

 

get the HKS Hipermax RS

 

You won't regret it if you get those, I had the JIC FLT-A2's for about 500 miles and I hated every mile. They ride way too stiff for everyday but those HKS RS's are close to a stock ride. Check the vendor classifieds for Injected Performance, I got mine from there for $1400 shipped.

 

Check out the KW, I have the variant 3 coilovers on my G35 and they work pretty good. I think compared to the JIC and Teins they're not as stiff. I don't really care for it to be a stiff ride myself but like it to handle and these do the trick pretty good. The guys at the shop recommended them when I was looking at the different brands and I'm glad he did. KW are popular on Euro cars, never seen them on a Japanese car. I was going to get them for my Audi, but I traded it in for the G.

 

The Teins are slightly better quality than the JICs take that for what its worth. I've had several sets of each on a variety of different cars. In general the Teins lasted longer between rebuilds, were cheaper and quicker. Performance wise they are both entry lvl and you get what you pay for. The EDFC obviously makes the Teins easier to adjust but I tend to only adjust mine at the track so it really made no difference to me. I'd rather get out of the car to adjust than have the 20lb control unit do it for me. For the price I'd prefer a set of custom valved Konis and springs over either the Teins or the JICs. Koni will rebuild their shocks for free at ARCC races and various other events around the country, you just pay for parts. So it is very convenient.

 

20lbs? The EDFC weighs about 1lb. and the motors not much more.

 

Weight it, the display, controller, wires and motors. I don't have a car with teins anymore but I would say right around 20lbs.

 

Sorry I just dont see it. The controller is about a lb or so (I will weigh it), the 4 tiny motors maybe 1/2lb each. The wires cant weigh squat. Thats all there is.
Anyhow, not having to get out and get under or remove the wheels to adjust the suspension is worth a few lbs to me.

 

I installed them straight out the box and didn't have to adjust the bump or compression, handles great. Not sure if any others have these but they work good, also got a good deal on em so makes me even more happy.
