Default 2005 G35 ?'s

I got a quick question. Can a 2005 6spd g35c beat a 350z enthusiast in a drag race? Will the G35's hp advantage over the Z (298 vs. 287) be able to overcome its weight disadvantage?

Thanks

I don't know for sure, but I'd think the Z would still beat the G given equal drivers. The Z weighs less and has 14 additional lb-ft of torque.

mostly drivers race, but I would give the edge to the Z as it is a bit lighter, has a bit more torque, and has a more evenly distributed powerband if I'm not mistaken. The 298hp vs. 287hp theory is only comparing PEAK hp, but in a race, the powerband is more important and how it is put to the wheels. You can even see that the new track Z with 300 peak hp and a bit less torque (260lb/ft) is still a drivers race with the older engine.

don't believe what you see on paper (or internet). Go try it and find out.

thanks everybody

nitrouz, I would try it and find out, but I am still trying to decide if I want a G or a Z. When I do get one, I will most definitely try it.

seems like you are trying to decide based more on performance. Then I would suggest the Z. Even if the straight line is comparable, the twisties are not, unless you upgrade the suspension which you can do for both cars. Good luck.
