To answer your question....
The Infiniti G35 is not exactly the same as the JDM Nissan Skyline. Both cars are built on the same frame and have the same body panels while also sharing similar suspension componentry, but the Skyline is a right hand drive vehicle with different engine/powertrain options that are only available to the Japanese market. They make the car in Japan with the following engines: 2.5 Liter V-6, 3.0 Liter V-6, and I believe they offer a 3.5 Liter V-6 for the Skyline 350GT(Don't quote me on that).
The Japanese Skylines also have a 3 Dimensional Navigation system that shows buildings and other city-specific obects that could never be stored on a single DVD for the U.S. versions of this car due to the data storage limitations of a DVD disc and the tremendous spatial differences in the land areas of the U.S. versus that of Japan.
There are also numerous minor cosmetic differences between the 2 cars.... mainly badging. The Japanese Skylines have Skyline-badged kickplates on the bottom of the doors on the Coupes between the A pillar and the B Pillar, along with all of the other Infiniti/G35 logos being replaced with Nissan/Skyline throughout the vehicle.
I'm not certain if this is the truth or not, but I also recall hearing something about the Japanese Government having a law that requires all Japanese cars come from the factory with a mandatory 120 MPH speed limiter instituted via ECU programming(or whatever the equivalent measure is in KM/H in Japan).
If you care to read some more about the history of the Skyline, here's a good link:
