Default Change rear diff fluid at what mileage?

Curious if that's something to get done soon. I have just over 11k miles and am taking her in for an oil change tomorrow.

Thanks.

I changed mine at 10k miles, it has metal shavings.. I guess you can change it anytime, but they are totally enclosed anyway, so it won't get dirty like engine oil..

changed it at 16K, after looking at the metal shaving..maybe I should have changed earlier (like 5K). Changed it with Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90.. now the rear diff runs better then ever!

How hard is it to change the rear diff. fluid? Step by step would be nice to all do it "yourselfers" outhere.

I JUST changed mine today. It was easy to do but I didn't write anything up. I will take some photos tomorrow and post some instruction ASAP.

it's really easy if you can get under the car, with a lift. Theres a lower drain plug at the back bottom of the diff, you need a hex wrench to get it out, but just undo it and let it flow out. Once it's all drained out, there is another fill plug a little higher up, take that out and pump the new fluid in to the fill plug level. That's it.

what you need are

1)a way to lift the car up (leveled)
2)the right kind of differential fluid
3)10mm Hex socket
4) 2 X crush washers
5) a hand fluid pump to fill the tranny fluid

Not a problem all.

Willthethrill-I am not sure. I didn't size em up. I used the same washers w/ no leaks though.
