Angry Installed JWT, Z-Tube and Grounding kit ...

I switched from and Injen CAI to the JWT because I didn't need all the high end power that the Injen provided. I was more interested in a steady power gain throughout the RPM range. I have only driven in a few miles today since getting it on, but I like it so far.

However ....

I must say that I think the JWT is poor in quality and craftsmanship. Now don't flame me too much but compared to the Injen that bolts together and to the car with only a few tools and effort (you don't have to remove the bumper, btw). The JWT and Z-Tube combo looks to be a simpler install but I don't think it is.

First of all, the fact that they make you attach all the rubber edges is a freak'n joke. The only thing I can think of is that it's to reduce shipping size. Secondly, the "clamp" bracket is a horrible excuse for securing the heat shield to the car. It needs to grab onto more surface area to really be secure. Finally, what were they thinking when they made it gold? This is not too important, but come on!

As for the $59 IMR grounding kit, this kit was just fine. It was easy to install but I would really think about making the instructions a little better. All it needs is a picture of the engine with indicators to tell you where you should be looking for the grounding point. Because without that, all I had was a 3/4 page text file with hints as to where you should look for the ground wires.

Now I am just waiting to find a Crawford plenum, install my Tein H-Techs, get my hands on some Crawford cats, and then I am done.

the heat shield is good enough.. the goal is to block off engine air to the filter.. IMO go heat wrap it tho.. it helps alot!

Heat wrap what? The Z-Tube?

I think the heat shield is great. I just don't see the need for all the assembly.

yea im gonna agree with you deff on the assembly required for the black flaps on the heat shield probably one of the most annoying things ive had to do so far.

It didn't take me very long to "assemble" the heat sheild. You just attach a couple pieces right? Seemed easy to me and the results are worth it.

i have a pop charger on the way...I want to wrap my intake tube, can you get that heat wrap at your basic auto parts store?

I dunno. My pieces kept falling off. Pissed me off..I put em on good. But it still took a while..

lol if ur having problems soap it up a lil..dont use oils. Itll come on fine. Just use workers gloves or ur cut ur elf real good (learned the hard way)

I am a worker so I was using workers gloves. Just used some good 'ol elbow grease. Got em on...But still a byatch.

Quick question - if using a pop charger, this eliminates the stock air box correct? So no more K&N? Thanks

I've got a Z-tube and K&N, but have been going back and forth on this pop charger deal.

Yes, no more stock air box or K&N. From what i've heard. Keep the K and n.

I had mine professionally installed; as I always do no matter how simple. Never had an issue with my JWT or any after market parts.

Very reasonable. Performance Nissan of Duarte, CA did all my mods in my sig installed and out the door for $2200.00.

All except the tires that is.

Cool. Sounds a bit pricey i think. Even if they took 22 hours and I'm sure they didn't , That would be $100 bux an hour. My pop charger and Z tube took me about an hour and i am no mechanic, My cat-back exhaust took about and hour but a mechanic did that, i don't have grounding wires f/r sways or a pulley but I can't imagine that they would take more than 8 hours, let's say 10 hours...for a total of 12 hours. Let's say 15 hours for fun. Let me see. $2200 divided by 15 hours equals..............................$146.67 an hour....


Pretty reasonable. Well, I guess you can't put a price on piece of mind.

Piece of mind and no issues with the hardware. Unlike so many posts I see in here by guys installing stuff themselves.

But I guess that's part of the hobby--for them. Tinkering until it's right.

That's what I said. You cannot put a price on piece of mind. The best part is: If something happens, you have someone to complain to. And what better place than a Nissan dealer that specializes in mods...
