Default "G45 skyline coupe".

hey guys with alot of talk about the skyline being an infiniti or a nissan when it comes to the u.s and now the sick pic of the skyline. my feeling is that the skyline is going to be an infiniti because of the price, also thinking about it the infiniti G35 sedan has all wheel drive and the coupe doesn't, my feeling is that if they made the G35 coupe all wheel drive then all you have to do is slap a turbo on it and there you have a skyline. also the other reason for it to be an infiniti is most infiniti like the M or the FX all have two different engines being called FX35/FX45, M35/M45 and the G35 doesn't. think about it a G45 level up from the G35. only thing I say is that the skyline name should remain because it is well known but then again as long as it is a pure bread skyline I can live with the name. G45 skyline coupe. I'm willing to bet my house on it. I hope it comes out as an 07 released in 06. I can't wait, I'm already thinking about how I'm going to afford it. DAMN. what do you guys think.

What's a pure bred skyline?

The Skyline GTR is gonna be a Nissan, or they wouldn't have badged the prototype page as Nissan. http://www.gtrproto.com/

t-minus 8 days, 2 hours and 57 minutes!

Remember in Japan they have no Infiniti and it's displaying in Japan so why would they debut Infiniti over there when they have no Infiniti cars...

THe only luxury japanese car manfacturer I believe is Lexus.

Infiniti and Lexus are marketing names for the US dealerships. Outside the US, there is Nissan and Toyota. Before 1984, Nissan vehicles sold in the US were called Datsun. Datsun was the marketing name for the US dealerships.

has anyone read the various resources of info from Nissan press releases or concept info? The new car is a Nissan GTR (or Infiniti). They are separating the new car AWAY from the Skyline name and making the new GT-R it's own independent line. In other words, it will NOT be called the Skyline GT-R; simply GT-R! The Skyline title has always been referred to a GT-R car based off of a sedan model, as a result, the new GT-R wants to get rid of that connection and make a super sports car purely of it's own engineering and innovation...not just a sporty coupe version of a initial 4-door offering.

^^^ What he said. It's not a Skyline. It's badged Nissan GT-R in the latest sketch because that's the global brand. All reports seem to indicate that they haven't decided which brand to make it yet. I'm betting on Infiniti, but if making it a Nissan will save me a few grand I'll take it.

Worst logic ever... why would they show a USDM prototype at an auto show in Japan?

As stated above there is no infiniti in Japan so the fact the proto at the Japanese show is Nissan doesn't prove anything. We all knew it would be badged Nissan in Japan.

I always thought Datsun was bought out, then the name changed to Nissan by it's new owners?

Anybody know when this car is gonna go into production? '07?

true, there was no lexus in japan until just now with the release of the IS250 and IS350. prior to this all toyota vehicles were branded as toyota.
