Default 2005 g35 radio in my 2004 g35 coupe + extra (1 PICTURE)

ok so i successfully made the radio work with my 2004 but the outputs of the 2005 is 6.4 volts rather than 5.5 volts on the 2004 radio. so the volume control is pretty sensitive. Isn't there a converter of some sort to lower the voltage going to the bose amp? please let me know. EVerything works except the temp control ****. i'm still trying to figure it out.

as for the placement of the radio, i like it much better because then i don't have gauges near my feet. I can take a glance instead of looking down. I don't have FI yet but that DIY project will come in due time when i'm done with this project.

you may ask, why they heck would you cut up your dash for a 2005 radio? well i want mp3 capability and the quality/finish of the 2005 radio is far superior than the 2004. =)

i'm also planning to relocate the buttons on the nav below the radio which will be much easier to control. WORK IN PROGRESS.....updates later!

That is awesome! Great job, I went to the dealer a few months ago and asked them to get me an '05 radio. They said it was like $2000. How much did you get the radio for if you don't mind me asking...this is definately something i want to do also because of the MP3 capablity.

I may be on crack or something but I can play MP3's in my 2k4 head unit.. At least I have burned CD's from my library in real player to blank CD's and they work without issue. And adding an inline resistor will drop your power to the amp.

why didnt you go with an after market head unit. You could have saved time and money by getting JDM double din? plus i would think aftermarket is a lot easier to work with.

just wondering

thanks for the comments.

the 05 radio i got for 200 bucks. it's an ok price i guess.

I wanted the 2005 radio for the OEM look. i didn't really want to spend big bucks on a deck, JDM a/c controls and dash. Plus I like customizing my dash to my own liking like having the gauges higher up for better viewing.

i'm not really a big audiophile like some of you guys so this satisfies me

I did change the orange LEDs to blue ones. That was the first thing on the list hehe

My 2004 unit plays MP3's fine. I have burned and used several discs successfully.

just so you guys know there a difference in an mp3 cd and a burned audio cd. mp3 cds can hold around 120 songs and you can see the name and title of the song playing verses a burned cd mix that only hold around 18-20 songs and just says track number.
