Default Need help ASAP please... 350Z springs on G sedan

So based on all my research, talking with you guys here and on other forums, I was told that using the unrevised springs from a '04 350Z would work just fine with my '05 with sport suspension. I was told the spring rates are the same and there are no issues with using these springs with my OEM shocks.

Then today I get ONE person who pops in and says I will need new shocks in a years time....(http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90996)

Granted he may just be smacking his gums but I would like to hear from those of you with this exact setup who have a year or more on the stock shocks.

I've got an appointment tomorrow to get these installed and have my alignment done, so the sooner I can get this cleared up the better!

As long as spring rates are same or at least close, I don't think you will need new shocks. I don't know the spring rates of either so maybe someone can chime in for that.

You will not need new shocks in a year time. You will not need new shocks any sooner then if you were running oem springs. Make sure that the rear springs you get do not have a light purple dot on them.

On the subject of shocks, I do recommend getting D-specs, but my saying that has zero to do with wear and everything to do with how they are a vastly superior shock to any oem G or Z shock.

If you absolutely MUST stick with your oem non sport shocks, I do not recommend any other choice then Tein H-tech's or Eibach prokits. And I say that with a serious distain for progressive springs, which both of them are. I will say one thing, sedan prokits were R&D on a non sport sedan.

That being said, you will like the car more if you were to upgrade the shocks to Tokico D-specs and run oem Z springs,....which are linear.

You will not have any problems as long as the shocks are the same spring rate as your sport shocks. You could also run z shocks up front and coupe springs in the rear.

Looking at the springs I was sent.... the smaller coils have a PINK or SALMON colored dot part number M3X01874 and the larger coils have 2 red dots and one white with no visible part number.

The person I bought them from was a vendor from this website and he assured me these were the non revised '04 springs.

The smaller diameter springs are your front springs. Your rear springs are the wider springs and a oem Z spring that has 2 red and one white dot is indeed a unrevised setup. Unrevised oem Z springs vs oem sedan sport springs have the same spring rates 314/342.

I would, but what is done is done and I flat out refuse to be dialed in to any manufactuer's idea of what I am as a owner. Infiniti thinks I'm a old fart that wants luxary with a certain consideration paid to the performance gods. The aftermarket thinks I'm not really serious about performance and I'll never leave that luxary thing far behind. NOTHING could be further from my truth, I am basically a Z owner that happens to be trapped in a sedan. I will not sell it and take such a huge depreciation loss, I'll jump brands before that. Frankly I pursue performance harder then a lot of actual Z owner's do.

I put stock '03 350Z springs and shocks in my G35 coupe and no problems. I put them in myself then got an alignment done about 3 weeks later. No irregular wear on tires.

Thanks! I had double checked with my calipers and they were indeed the smaller O.D. unrevised version.

Installed them last week and everything is well.

Either of the OEM 350Z springs will work, spring rates aren't too drastically different between the early and later years. Also, when dropping any car on stock shocks/struts, there is a chance, (depending on your driving habits and roads etc) that the shocks may wear down a little faster than normal, simply because of the ride height, and shock piston travel etc... BUT I have not heard of the 350Z springs really giving the G35 any trouble. There are quite a few people doing the 350Z Tein Htec springs on their G35 as well.
I wouldn't worry too much about the shocks IMO, you should be fine.

Excellent. Let us know how it goes as I am thinking of doing the same thing for my G35x.
