quaife diff installed!
Hi All,
I got my quaife ATB differential installed a few weeks ago inplace of my open diff. It feels great and the car really sits down in the corners under power/acceleration. With my open diff, the inside tire used always lose traction in a turn. The operation is totally silent. We did have some problems with the installation though. The diff needed to be internally shimed as the runout and/or backlash was out of spec. The work was done by Rob at Z-car Garage. I must say his customer service is TOP NOTCH! We were under the impression that the diff would be strictly bolt-on and, at most, need to shim the diff(not the diff internals) in the pumpkin. But he had to send it out to a rear-end specialist for the internal shimming. In the mean time, he let me have one of his VLSD diffs as a loaner for a about week! I thought that was very cool of him instead of putting back in my original open diff!! I did notice that the VLSD slips a little before transfering power(just a split second) as compared to the quaife torsen. But this is to be expected. The Quaife feels great and now i can accelerate out(and in) the corners harder. I do have a new problem now though. I'm getting pretty bad wheel-hop from a straight-line standing start under WOT. I guess the combination of the additional traction and my rear suspension is causing this. I have Z-springs and tokico d-specs on the rear. I think I'll to try to stiffen up the d-specs in read and see if that helps.

I'm running 245/40's 18 Dunlop SPort Maxx.
I though wheel hop was due to soft bushings. I figured tightening up the shock my compensate for the soft bushings.

I have had the Quaife diff in my base model for the past few months. The installed said there was no problems, and it works great. I think he just had some bad luck is all. The problems are worked out with the Quaife diff now they have 2 different models for the Z.
