Wholy crap, i did not know that infiniti and nissan were the same company, thanks for pointing that out for me, i'm being sarcastic btw.

Do you think your all high and mighty because you know the relationship between the Japanese skyline and the American G35? your knowledge overwhelms me, is there anything else you wanna tell me that I already know.

So if I put a fairlady Z badge on my 350z does that make it a fairlady then, since they share similarities--no, it would be a 350z with a fairlady Z badge. For those who opt. to rebadge their G35 with a "skyline" badge, it's still a g35, just with a skyline badge on it.

From my point of view, the G35 will never be accepted as a TRUE skyline IN THE U.S.

its the same exact car...
the only difference is the steering wheel is on the left and our cars say infiniti g35 instead of skyline...
if someone rebadged their car as a GT-R or something than you could argue your point...
me personally i wouldnt rebadge my car as a skyline because i see no point in it but that just me. to those who have put "skyline" or "fairlady Z" on their car thats what they believe it is. but to each his own

Agreed. And personally I think "350z" sounds better than "fairlady Z".

It always amazes me when some people are 'name freaks' and like being paid by a manufacturer ....

I don't mind as long as you're not doing it with the INTENT to fool people. IE: you should do a re-badge if the name you are replacing it with is identical, or a synonym for the make of the car. 350Z to FairladyZ seems fine, but I can tell people who replace their G badges with Skyline are intending to fool people into believing that it's one if they live in the US. The fact is, non enthusiast soccer moms and the general population won't even know what a Skyline is, and real enthusiasts will see right through the BS and frown upon you for posing, so why do it?

Other examples that would consider you a poser: Rebadging your Carrera to a Carrera S or a Turbo. (You could probably get away with the former, but that's still posing since you didn't have enough money to shell out for the real S). Rebadging a 325Ci to a 330Ci, etc, etc. Little things like this people can get away with because it's hard to distinguish between these two.

your post doesnt make sense! were talking about there counter part car in japan! were not saying that were gonna badge our g35 to a m45? ur examples about porsche doesnt make sense! if u drove a porsche and u badged it RUF would u still be a poser? it would be the same things because they are both the same cars! were not talkin about rebadging with the name of another car in the same manufactuer.

The guy who said this a couple posts back had it best.

What I am trying to say is that there are probably people in the US who hold on to the notion the Skyline NAME will make their car seem better than it is. As long as there is no intent to fool people into thinking your car is better by having another name, then there is no problem. This, unfortunately doesn't work with the G35 ---> Skyline in the US all that well, since many might think you are trying to pose as the R34 or something. As evidence, check out that other poll titled G35 = Skyline, and notice by the results that there is a good percentage of people who would probably agree with this statement. (Most wouldn't, but it's all a matter of opinion).

And of course, no one in the right mind would rebadge a G35 to an M45. They are entirely different models. My examples were using trims, not models, to emphasize the point that people can get away with certain rebadging techniques.

if i were to badge my G into a full JDM nissan skyline i'd do it right -- change the seat covers, steering wheel, clock, grille, rear emblems -- everywhere that it says or have the infiniti logo -- if i'm not going to do it right then i won't do it at all. just my .02 cents

Sorry but I don't see many other G owners rabadge their G to fool other people. These people just want to be different and prefer the JDM name. It's just like some 350z owners prefer the name 'fairlady'
Just because there are many people who choose to get their knowledge from fast and furious, it doesn't mean that G owners need to accomadate their limited knowledge. Skyline name has been there for 20+ years and if people are ignorant to know about it then let them be.

what i really dont understand is that some of the ppl here calling it " its not " .. what are you smoking ? cuz i may need some of that good stuff ..

all everyone is saying is that the ppl who changed their badging is just replicating their " COUNTER PART FROM ACROSS THE PACIFIC OCEAN " thats all .. no one is saying SKYLINE GTR ... if someone puts a GTR tag on the G .. then they should be slapped ! ... a skyline is not only reserved for the GTR .. there are GT-S and now 350GT ... thats all .. get that through your hard skull !!!
