3.7 To be in 2008 G35 Coupe
Hey, I dont know if any of you read this, it is an article about the GTR and it mentions the same engine being used in the 08 G35 Coupe. It's worth taking a look at.

but logically it has to be the wording. all signs point to the G/Z having the N/A version of either the 3.7 or 3.8 (actaully 3798cc) there are still conflicting opinions on which one its gonna be. i say i dont care

Me neither, but people estimating 325HP figures and hoping for that are foolish. That's not all that impressive compared to the M3's 333HP peak figure. In terms of area under the curve, I wouldn't know. I have a hunch the HR would have more torque than the BMW I6.

HP numbers should be interesting. im betting the street version of nismos 3.8 HR engine puts out around 340+ HP. alot of that technology will go into the next gen Z/G engine be it 3.7 or 3.8 im not sure if i see 340 from a factory 30K-35K nissan but i think somewhere in the range of 330HP will make its way to the showrooms. couldnt guess the weight which will play a role in how it compares tot he 335 or something similar as you mentioned
the G coupe is supposed to debut in april at the new york auto show. hopefully alot of questions will be answered there

I doubt new g35 coupe would come with 3.7, it's just almost impossible that Nissan would allow anyone easily reach the hp of GT-R with just easily TT it .... I know the GTR should be AWD and it's a different car but I just don't see why Nissan would put 3.7 in new g35 .... so my guess, it would be 3.5 still like the sedan....
Again, all that info just a speculation until Nissan officially announces anything.

You've also got to factor that as Nissan is going to brand the GT-R a Nissan, Infiniti will have to fall back on the G coupe as its sports car. So seeing a "tame" 3.7 in the G and possibly the Z is completely rational in my book. Keep in mind that in both cases, you probably won't see more than 350bhp out of these cars from the factory, while the GT-R will push "stated" 450bhp with more potential on the table...
I'm really curious if you're going to be able to transplant these new engines into existing and future chassis with little effort. Only time will tell...

I dunno... if I was Infiniti, why not just use a modified version of the 4.5 liter V8 from the M45 mated to a six speed transmission? Either that or make an M45 coupe. I love that car's styling.
I have to wonder whether the GTR motor will make it into some car in Infiniti's lineup.
