I'll try and make this short. My brother in Ca. bought a used 05 FX 35 from an Infiniti dealer. At the time they gave him only 1 set of keys with promise to get him a second set. The second set never turned up. After repeated visits and calls to the dealer, speaking to and being ignored by, the salesman, sales manager, and service manager, he kind of gave up. He was going to pay for the keys himself till he found out how expensive they were. He again tried the dealer and got nowhere.
A few weeks ago, he found documentation under the passenger seat of his FX that the car was a Hertz rental car, this was never disclosed to him. Evidently under Ca. law this must be disclosed in writing to any potential buyer of the vehicle. The downside liability to the dealer is fairly significant. He called the dealer, was put through to the general manager, arranged an appointment to meet with him. The GM asked him what he wanted. He said originally, all he wanted was a second set of keys for the FX. GM said that would be no problem. My brother said that was before, now I want 2 sets of keys to a fully loaded new G35 Sport, and take back my FX even up. Well, my brother has been driving his new G35 free and clear for about 2 weeks now and even has 2 sets of keys.

I failed to mention he went in there with a lawyer letter spelling out the potential liability to the dealer should my brother press this issue legally through the courts.

My brother told the GM he liked the vehicle (FX) and had they not screwed him around on the second set of keys they would not be having this discussion. The GM told him, you should have come to me. My brother said, you guys are a high line dealership, known for customer service. I spoke numerous times with the salesman, and sales manager and service manager. Was ignored by all of the above, it should never ever have gotten to that point. It should have been handled as promised at the time of purchase. How much time do I need to waste and how many people do I need to speak to to get a second set of keys I was promised at delivery.
