Smile Just bought a G35 coupe

I first looked at a G35 in december but wanted to wait for my GTP to be payed off first.

I looked at a 2003 Cobra on Saturday but I liked the feel of the G35 a lot better. The G35 is a much more rounded car I think. The cobra has awesome straight line speed but lacks in other departments. The G35 has looks, comfort and power.

Anyway, I ordered a 6MT coupe w/o navi. Here in Canada the only 2 options are manual tranny and the navi. I picked Silverstone as my colour. The colour is called something else in the states for some reason. Its the greyish-silver colour.

At first my car was going to be built in July but the dealer traded with a dealer in Toronto and bumped my build day up to May so hopefully I'll get it by June, just in time for the summer months.

One thing I hate is you get charged a tire and air tax then are taxed again on top of it.

If anyone has some good pics of a coupe in Silverstone could you provide a link to them please. I need a new background screen

In the States, the "Silverstone" coupe is called "Diamond Graphite." I ordered one myself, in fact.

None of the dealers had any coupes in this color when I was shopping. However, my dealer showed me two QX4s side-by-side, one in Brilliant Silver and one in the DG. That was enough for me to get a good idea of the difference, so I ordered it. I really do like the Silver, but my last car was silver, so I wanted a bit of a change-up this time.

I still haven't seen any DG G-coupes on the road, but I have seen 350Zs in Silverstone twice. They both looked spectacular! Much better even than the samples on Infiniti.com So I know I won't be sorry I ordered it.

I haven't seen any "good" pics of this color, but I should be picking mine up within the next week or two. After that, I'll have some pics of my own to post. (I'm using some Silver coupe pics as my own wallpaper right now.)

Good luck with your car, and I hope your order comes in soon.

I purchased a black on black aero performance package - absolutely love the car - had it for 4 months now.... took it out on the track last week - too much fun.

It's funny that you were looking at the new Cobra, as was I - I am a die hard mustang fan...took one drive in the G and was soon driving my own.

Lemme know if you want pics of mine...

Thanks for the pics, they look great. Now I can show people what mine will look like

My guess is that the pics are of more then one car since one has an Alberta plate and the others are different.

Thumbs up

Kroams, thanks for posting those DG pics! I am of course biased, but I think the G looks even better in that color than the Z does. Man, am I gonna love this car!

I officially take delivery of my G on Friday. I plan to take my Polaroid camera with me (no digi), so I should have some quick pics immediately thereafter. In the near future, I'm probably going to roll out to the park and shoot a whole roll of film on the car.

If I'm lucky, out of all that, I'll have at least one picture that looks as good as those Kroams posted! (#3 above is my favorite, BTW )

Hey Kojo62, I think we may have the same car soon! I am getting close to ordering a 6MT Coupe with DG/Graphite but can't decide if I want the navi. I DO want it but considering it forces you to get the premium package that really means my car would go from $33,000 to $37,500 just to have navigation. I don't really care about the Bose or dualzone climate. I am trying to pick between the Red and DG primarily. The Red is really pretty but I think too flashy and you can't see the cool tail lights as much. The DG is just incredible. Let me know if you guys want me to email any hi-res DG pics since I have lots.

I didnt get the navi system, it was just to much money. Also, most of Canada isnt mapped yet for it so it wouldnt be to good here in Winnipeg.

Also, In Canada we have different choices then you have.

The base model is the auto. From there you can get the aero package which is the spoiler. Then there is the 6MT version who's only option is the navi system. Everything else like the sunroof and upgraded stereo is standard.

That Canadian packaging sounds a lot like Acura's. I'm replacing an Acura CL coupe, which came with pretty much everything already loaded on the car standard, with the only option being manual or automatic. Some people don't like such high standard contenting, but it does make it easier to shop, since all the cars are similar.

While waiting on my G, I scoured Infiniti.com nearly every day, looking at every dealer's inventory between NY and Virginia. Since last November, I only saw two cars configured exactly like mine (both already sold). So even if I wanted to buy from inventory, I would've had to compromise. If here was like Canada, I probably would've had a better chance on finding what I wanted from stock, since there are less permutations.

BTW, Kroams, I never had a Navi before. So this car will be my testbed vehicle. I figure if I like having it, I'll continue to get them in the future. If not, then I simply won't. Gotta try at some point to know.

If you want to preview the Nav System's features, here's a link where you can download the Manual in .pdf format:

2003-Infiniti-G35-Navi.pdf

If you don't have a broadband connection, be patient. The PDF file is over 3.5MB!

Talking

I got it! Picked up my DG coupe on Friday. Here's a picture of her taken from the dealership's lot by my girlfriend. I should have more later on after I have a chance to shoot some myself.

Not so much lucky as patient. I ordered my car on November 23rd!

The final wait tally was 5 months & 2 days, or 153 days, or exactly 1 day shy of 22 weeks. And my order was handled by a personal friend of mine who's an Infiniti dealer, the top salesman at his dealership, and that was still the best he could muster for me.

So Chris, if your dealer just got your build date moved up to May, buy that man a Molson! That means you can probably expect a mid-late June delivery at the worst. Count yourself lucky, buddy.

That's a beautiful car there, G-Nite. I love black, but I've had two other black cars, and I know how much work that really is! It looks great if you keep up with it, tho.
