must be a typo cause later on in the article it says

"These impressions were borne out at the test track, where the 335i was not only four-tenths of a second quicker to the quarter-mile mark with a 13.4-second run but also moving at a significantly faster clip of 104.3 mph. Meanwhile, 60 mph came up in just 4.8 seconds."

So I would say that for the G37 it should be 13.8 which is consistant with other reports on the G37

I just drove the G37, and now I have an idea of what it'll feel like to drive the GT-R in terms of size. The G37 feels significantly bigger than the Z and even the G35. The interior feels very spacious, which probably gives the car such a large feel.

The engine is pretty smooth, but it doesn't "feel" any faster than a Z because of its weight. And I guess the magazine numbers show that it's not actually faster either.

What you do feel is the weight when you take corners. You definitely feel all of it's weight, and the transitions is where you notice it the most. The suspension feels planted, but it's not a car you'd have much fun driving at the track.

The G37 looks good in person, the interior amenities are nice, and is a great buy for the average buyers. But after driving both the 335i and the G37, I'd personally rather have the 335i (if I were interested in heavy sports coupes), especially given its mod potential.

As the dyno reveals, 335i test car produces 280 hp 5,800 rpm as measured at the rear wheels, while the G37 comes up with 281 hp at 7,200 rpm.
All we need is to get this baby into our Z!!

According to its reviews, the G37 (330hp) is a consistent high 13 second car, just as about the 2007 350Z (306 hp). I wonder what some of the regular drag racers here in the Z forum would be able to pull off in ideal conditions, such as low 13 second marks that some 07 Z drivers have gotten. I think Nissan/Infiniti did a mistake by adding ~250 lbs more weight than the average 1st generation G35 coupe.

Now, only if Nissan were bright enough to add a VQ37VHR to the Nismo Z... that would be interesting. Too bad Nissan is in a role when it comes to disappointments. I really like the G37, but I don't think it lives up to its hype. The Concept was just way too great of a ...concept.

The 2007 350Z is not a high 13-second car. More like mid-13 seconds, with low 13s possible.

One thing about the engine performance that I don't agree with the article is how they described it as a mid-range performer in terms of the torque band. It's true to some extent, but it's far more rev happy than the predecessors. I definitely felt more oomph up in the higher revs than I did with the 03-04 engine or the rev up engine. I can't speak for the HR engine since I haven't driven one, but the 3.7 tugs you all the way to redline.

I took the car out for a second spin, and my assessment of the handling isn't all that valid because I realized that the tires were completely spent. They are on their last legs so the fronts wash out easily, followed by the rears when I get on the power.

True, first time ever running a car, got 13.8 with zero brake torqueing on my 5AT, in 90 degree weather, high humidity, not fully broken in either i suppose. Soon as i get new tires, im hitting at least 13.6 stock.

Nismo intake and exhaust will only help when i get em =)

The G37 guys think their car dynos more than the 350z HR in reality of the dynos they don't.

If you read my post carefully I stated according to its reviews; many of us already know that in ideal conditions with excellent driving, many 07 Z's have gone mid-to-low 13's. I'm just wondering what those same drivers in the same condition would get with a G37... maybe 13.6? Just curious...

The VQ37VHR does yield higher power. Why else would it be the engine that it is if it would perform as a VQ35HR? Might as well just make it a VQ35VHR and forget the higher displacement. The problem with the G37 is that its additional power is offset by its additional weight [not particularly dyno related]. A 350Z with a VQ37VHR would be interesting (or lighter G37, which is not going to happen)
