Got caught in the snow in the G
Wow......talk about an experience. This could be the worst car i've ever had in the snow. 04 6MT
Granted I had no extra weight in the trunk, and am on the Michellin Pilot sports still.
But I had a 03 Lightning (421rwhp 510rwtq) and a 03 cobra (501rwhp 484rwtq on nittos) that were better in the snow.
I found that the stability control is a killer from a stop. Had to turn that off. If I was stopped at a light uphill, even a little, with any slope to the sides of the road the car just wanted to rotate with the stability control on. With it off the slide was at least manageable.
Any uphill even while allready moving was interesting, car still slid the rear out a lot.
Any concesus on wheels and tires for winter?? I won't be driving it much in winter but don't want to get caught in that crap without at least snow tires again.
Thanks
Tom

But yes:
1. turn off traction control from going from a stop
2. slow slow slow speeds
3. minimum All Season tires if not Winter Tires.
Tryin' to think if I missed anything else....

Blizzaks. I had about a foot of snow next to my Z yesterday and drove thru it with no problem. Those tires are amazing in the snow.

just want to point out that you are in fact the idiot...i pointed it out in that other thread also.
like somebody else said, it's not a smart idea to run summer tires in the winter.
i had my '04 g35c for 3.5 yrs and 3 winters. i drove the whole time with pilots. there were some momemts but did ok. if snows more then 2 inches or ice wait til roads are salted. the g35 was bad but my new g37 is worse. i got caught in conditions i would easily manage in my g35 last weekend and i was all over the place. i was trying to avoid it cause i want somw work vsxx but time for some blizaks.
I had a pair of Dunlop Wintersport M3's for my G35 when I used to use it as my DD. It was great in snow and on ice. It was every bit as easy to drive as my FX35 is on all seasons.

LOL! you guys are funny! Don't take a rwd car out in the winter? I guess all the plow trucks, ambulances, police cars, and tow trucks, taxis, city buses can take the winter off. Get a pair of SNOW tires. All seasons don't really do anything well.
