Exclamation Questions About Oil Consumption/Engine Replacement!!!

I guess it's a good thing that the dealership is willing to do this, but what should I expect after the replacement? What are the differences with the newer engines? How did they solve the oil consumption problem? How will this affect my resale value, warranty, odometer mileage with the DMV, etc.? I drive a 2006 6MT Coupe. Any info would be much appreciated.

Hehe, yeah, I wish! Anyone have any first hand experiences/observations with a replacement VQ engine?

From what I understand, the updated motors have upgraded piston rings, as that was found to be the problem causing the oil consumption.
This should not affect your resale value or your odometer reading at all.

Just got my G35 back with the new engine. It has the 10102-AC7M9 part number on the invoice, so apparently I have the so-called "V2" engine. Too soon to know if it's a success, but I'll post a status report as soon as I put a couple thousand miles on it. One thing I did notice is that it does seem a little sluggish compared to my original motor. Pretty disappointing. I don't know, maybe it's because I was rolling in an '07 G35 sedan loaner for a while, I got used to the extra torque. Man, I never realized how much stronger the HR feels in the low to mid range than the rev-up VQ engines, even in those big sedans. Makes me very tempted to just say screw it and go get a G37.
