I felt that the G was very stable in a drift. When I was autoXing, I had no problem feeding in a little extra gas and gertting a controlled oversteer situation going on. IT was alctually a lot of fun and it saved me a few times instead of plowing into cones!!

go to www.importfanatix.com for some recent drift pics.. a few are of me attempting to drift.. the car understeers way too much so it's difficult to get a controlled drift ..... the only way i managed to throw the rear out is to do a clutch - drop in mid-turn ...
at first i thought it was just lack of experience (which is definitely contributing to my suckiness), but one of the more seasoned drifters tried going in my car and had a tough time as well ...... now i'm waiting for my rear cusco anti-sway bar.. that should help things a little..... also would be nice to get some crappy rubber on the back tires.

no crappy rubber will not help...

to do great drifts u have to have good rubber but u have to heat it up a alot to the point where is going to start losing traction...this way ur have a slide and grip...i'v done it a few times...seems to work well but very hard to get the tires heated up quickly...

Not that I want to, not that I give a darn, but with the Cusco sway bars I added, I can drift very easily. And I actually drive a sedan, not a coupe, without LSD even.

I have autocrossed my coupe for most of the summer and found fairly easy to drift .... IF there was the kind of corner that permitted me to get up enough speed to use lift-throttle understeer to position the original drift followed by underdoing the counter-steering a bit.

The problem is most AutoX courses are too tight (at least in my region) for this so drifting would hurt me by making me hit cones.

There is a video out there - I will try to find it. It shows a Skyline Coupe drifting through turns at very high speed (obviously a professional driving) while leading an IS300, an RSX, and a Subaru WRX in a race sponsored by a Japanese car mag.

- Riff

P.S. The other cars were taking conventional racing turn-in/apex/turn-out lines into each corner!

Here's the video - correction on the race - it did not involve an IS300 - there were an Integra Type R, WRX, and an RX-8. There were also an S2K and a Miata involved but you don't see them in this short video.

Sorry, it's on Imagestation so you'll have to have a login - it's the first video. Note the very cool drift by the CB coupe as it leads the vainly pursuing Acura, Sube, and Mazda!

Enjoy. (Hope this hasn't been posted here before!)

Sorry about that - the reason why it didn't work was because of the wrap on the URL ImportFreak.

It will work if you highlight both lines and then copy and paste them into a new browser window.

Btw, there are many more videos than just the brief one showing the G drifting - they are all entertaining but are unfortunately narrated in Japanese.

(Remember to right-click and then select the "Save Target As ..." when you see the second Download Video prompt. Imagestation does not support streaming video - you'll have to save it to your hard drive, then watch later after it finished downloading.)

Good luck and good viewing!

- Riff

P.S. Props to my fellow coupe driver Suke and some other coupesters for capturing and transferring this video to the proper format.
