Look, I live on Long Island and there is a tremendous amount of traffic. And, I was going to get a G35 coupe before I picked up a 350Z Touring 6spd at a price I could not turn away from.

I am going to vote for the 7spd AT for a few good reasons:

Firstly, the G37S is not a purpose-built, driving focused sports car (like the Z), but rather it is a long distance cruiser, a GRAND TOURER. And i'll tell you why I say that.

At its core, it's focus is to be quiet, comfortable, and practical. And, it's true. After all, it has two back seats, a sporty, yet conforming suspension, leather, good stereo, lots of space in the cabin, a decent trunk - a Aston Martin DB9, but on a smaller scale. But when you want it, (ON DEMAND, in fact) it WILL set your pants on fire.

However, in your everyday life, you don't need that. You want a compromise and with the paddle shifters as your alternative (which seems to be a good one, considering the GTR has them) you should be more than satisfied. And, in NJ/NY metro traffic, you want the automatic tranny just becasue stop and go is annoying as hell. Plus, it copes better in the inclement weather, which is hell in NJ.

And, finally, when you have a manual, you WILL have the urge to rev the nuts out of it, which wastes gas.

This is just my opinion. FYI - I am a 23 years old, not some tired old dude saying get the AT.

^^^ Take the S out then. Make it G37. ^^Are you a member of MyG37.com? I own both a 350Z and a G37S, both 6sp, and if we are going for a long cruise, we used our MB. Back seats are useless. MB has better stereo. My son's Civic has more cabin room, and A/T has nothing to do, weather wise, its all common sense driving.

BTW, I used to live in Jersey City, and I have lots of relatives in Long Island.

Mama's boy, LOL. Get the A/T. Waste of thread and money, you will listen to your mama anyway and your mind is all set up for A/T.

get M/T it will only take you a week to get used to it, if you buy a A/T you will regret it buying it down the road, and once you learn how to drive a M/T you will be driving in the city as if it was an A/T car

Go MT...I live in DC so I see way more traffic than you do and I love my 6MT...be a man and use that left leg. I only drive manuals so I'm a little biased though.

Do the G 37 have the same A/t than the 370 with the locking torque converter.

That AT is actually pretty cool, I've read a lot about it, Their shifting mechanism is really cool how they've got it set, it should be super smooth through all the gears in how it pulls. I would be worried long term though since it is a very complex tranny. So if you want luxury, then get the AT, but the 6sp MT is where you have the control over your driving.

based you have said it sounds like you do not know how to drive manual, and that you are pretty set on getting the automatic.

with that said you should just follow your heart, and get the a/t

Sounds like you already have your mind made up on the A/T. I've driven both and I'd go with the M/T anyday regardless of where I live. The A/T really takes all the fun out of driving the car, even though it does have 7 gears. Just my preference, but I would never be happy with an A/T G37.

I own a 08' 350z M/T, learned to drive manual with this car and I live in Miami.. Lots of stop and go traffic everywhere! After owning this car for a year now I have to say that it's been fun having a fast M/T car and I will stick with it since it's practically paid off and I've put quite some money into it but if I had to do it all again and could get a G37 for within 3grand of what I paid for my car I would. and I'll get it A/T since it has 7 gears so it should have a pretty good gear ratio to keep up with the M/T in straight line racing which is what I enjoy doing. Has some sort of back seats! (Which I miss having), comfortable seats and it's quieter..

But then again.. Lol, I would have actually bought an Acura TL if that's what I was really aiming for at the time!

Your decision and it's time for soul searching..
