Huge problem discovered with 04 6MT
As I was getting my pulleys installed today... the mechanic that was putting them on discovered that the insides of my rotors have been wearing out unevenly on the same spot on both sides... the passenger side being significantly worse than the driverside. As I have bad experience with Nissan service, what can I expect from Infiniti service?
the inner portion of the rotor (if it were the outer portion i would have seen it earlier) Its not the pad that's the problem, its the rotor itself. there is a ring that is on the outer half of the inside of the rotor, that when touched, indicates that the ring portion of the rotor is totally done. Since the car barely has 5k miles, I figured I should have no problems getting it replaced under warranty... but at the same time I have a horrible taste in my mouth with Nissan service... just hoping Infiniti service isn't that bad.
My experience with Infiniti service was really good. They did make a mistake in adjusting the guide plate on the sifter during the new manuel tranny install. But they corrected it without any grief. I will use them again without pause.
No problem from my dealer. They have been fantastic. They may give you flak if they see the new pulleys. Not related to brakes but some manufacturers ask service advisors to note that type of mod in case something goes wrong in the future. Pulleys, from what I have heard are more likely to cause warranty denial issues than most. If you have a failure related to any of the items the pulleys drive (steering, the whole elctrical system, a/c) thay may deny your claim. Just food for thought.

You mentioned about a sound coming from the wheel at the LI meet. The brake pads must be still good. But your rotors must be replaced under warranty. Sorry to hear that. Maybe because you never washed your car in the winter so far. All that rock salt and ****
Anyway Infiniti should be better with service then Nissan. Not that I'm complaining.

Your chain of command for egtting shiz done is:
Service Tech
Service Manager
General Manager
Regional Nissan Rep (God forbid it goes that far)

Let us know what happens. Infinity has EXCELLENT service, but I have been extremely happy with my local Nissan dealer.
