Does the Z tube really add more hp??
My perf shop said no way . I am getting my g35coupe tomorow at 10 am sooooo excited but also abit sad i am letting go of my 350z. I removed all my mods .. borla exhaust pop charger rims... anyways i wanted to swap the z-tube with g35c tube but the guys at the perfo shop said it will do nothing... anyways i dunno jsut wanted to know what u guys thaught. Anyways i get my g35c tomrow at 10 am i am going to the perf shop straight from there to get the pop charger put on and borla exhasut added he is adding a 7 " pipeto make it fit.. anyways i can't wait and let me know ifits worth ordering a z-tube or not.. cuz they said its not and to just add the pop charger to my g tube also he is cutome making me a heat shield
It's a proven mod. As well as being better shapped with no resanator or heat tube, it's also bigger in diameter. It's hard that anyone would say it would not be an improvement. Mine sure was.

I have a Z tube and dynoed my car without it and then with it. It gave me about a 6hp gain. I lost some torque in the low rpm range but gained in overall torque #'s. I never felt the difference in the torque.
Here are my dyno sheets. Sorry for the crappy quality.

Here is a side by side comparison of the 2 tubes. You can see how much more of a direct route the z tube has.
Not be rude but the guy at your performance shop is wrong.
There are some bigger pics of the dyno sheets here http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288908737

Thanks-similar to a chart a saw a couple of months ago.
I haven't noticed much of a difference either. The effects can vary of course on your driving style and to some degree whether you have an M/T or Auto.
It is a moderate loss of torque at rpms where a lot of people live.
