A 2004 G35 that I am interested in has a check engine light, and the owner says that it is caused by the Nismo exhaust system having no O2 sensor ports. Should I buy it? Do G35 Nismo exhausts have O2 Sensor ports?

 

C'mon.... ANY reasonable and legit exhaust system has (or should have) O2 ports! How else is the computer supposed to do it's job where it's programmed to read/interpret deltas between upstream and downstream sensors?

No sensors.... I'll bet it runs real well. NEVER buy someone else's problem. One thing good about CA is that the smog cert on sale of a vehicle is on the seller. No smog, no sale. (Or it should be unless the buyer is stupid and agrees to take on the smog requirement.)

There are plenty of clean G35s out there.....I'd suggest to skip this one. Sounds like it's been modified by someone who doesn't know what they are doing or they are being dishonest and you'd likely be signing yourself up for a nightmare.

As Mic said....an actual Nismo exhaust will have O2 ports.

 

Agreed with the others. A friend just bought a really clean G35 with low miles for cheap.

When possible, I buy unmodified cars too. Usually they've had correct services and nobody has pushed them very hard!
