Default G35 options: Worth the extra $5k?

Well I'm in the dealership checking out the different options and the financing is going to be incredibly high and way out of my price range with the interest rates they're offering based on credit. So my only other option is to lease. Its going to end up being a waste of money but its what I can do to enjoy a car I like for the time being. 3 years down the road, my needs could change and I may need something more practical, which would be perfect timing to get rid of the G. Plus, unfortunately I will be driving the G during the winter time. If I end up buying a G later down the road, i'd definately garage it during the winter but quite frankly it'd be a waste of my money to garage a lease as well.

So here's the debate. It'll cost me $513 a month to lease a G35 coupe with leather and the performance wheel/tire package along with the limited slip differential. $586 will be my monthly payment if I lease a fully loaded G with navi and sunroof. I'd originally opted for the sunroof and aero package and decided I didn't need all the extras but apparently there is no happy medium. So I need the owner's opinions on what they dislike and like about their options, or wish they had purchased when they got the car? I need honest opinions, and I'm hoping I do not have to put too much money into this car (modding wise, i've already gone down that road, not sure if I want to do it all over again with the money). Is the standard system/Navi pretty decent? Or do you hardly ever use it and its just for looks? Can you modify it to play standard DVD's? I need opinions, cause if I am going to buy it, i'll just get the base and throw in my own equipment but if I'm going to lease, i'll just lease with the stuff I want.

Problem is, $586 is alot of money, along with my insurance and everything, it'd cost too much money and wouldn't be worth it in my opinion. My dealer is willing to throw on the aero package on the base model with leather for only $15 more a month but, if I put $2k down on the lease for the fully loaded G, it'd make my payments the same as opposed to buying base with aero for $540. So I need opinions.

well...if 40 dollars a month is that big a deal to you...maybe you should wait a lil longer until u can put down a better down payment.

I'm having the same problems, I would like to buy a fully loaded G35c for 39k or I can skip the nav., wing, front lip and get it for 35k! I think I would rather go with the 35k and put some money in my pocket for mods. If I could choose w/out worring about $$ I would get the fully loaded G35, but we do live in the real world!

Wow, i hope you guys are talking about a 6mt!! I am going to try and purchase a 5AT G35coupe w/premium package at the end of the month and im hoping for $34,000 out the door (tax, title, and all that stuff) $586 a month for a lease seems expensive. You might as well buy it!

Where are you guys getting these prices??....I got my G for 34.5 6MT with everything except Nav here in Maryland. To get back to the subject...I never lease...You think your needs may change but you may fall in love with the G. Leasing to me is just like renting an apartment these days. You're spending tons of cash on something you'll never own. The G should hold its value if you don't run it 25k every year. By the way...I pay 560 for my G...and nobody can tell me how many miles I can drive a year.

First off, I got a 6MT with everything except body side moulding and nav. I wish I would have gotten the nav system. The nav system is decent and I've been in situations where a nav system would have been useful. The nav system can be modified to play DVDs and other video sources.

A word of advice, do not put any money down on a lease. All you are accomplishing is the reduction of the monthly payment on a vehicle that you will not own. Whatever option you choose, unless you are going to purchase your G, consider keeping the down payment cash in your pocket.

Sorry it took me so long to reply back guys, things have been rather hectic at home. It looks like my insurance will not be covering zip on the amount of damage that was due to my current car being broken into, so here I am stuck with the car at present AGAIN. I know I posted a while back saying I was going to be able to do it, but again I will not. I guess its just a sign.

Prices that I got were for the 5AT Premium with navi and aero/perofrmance wheel and tire package.

You're right 03ZUC, I could fall in love with it, as I did just by test driving. I would have to drive it in the winter unfortunately as I wish I didn't have to. Paying that kinda money, it'd be a waste to let it sit for nothing. I found a used 03 Ivory Pearl with 16k, fully loaded, and the guy's throwing in an extra set of Blizzak snow tires for $30k even. Not sure if I can even afford that with the interest rate I may qualify for (It should be good, credits perfect, but still, i'm paying 0% interest now and payments are 400 on a Grand am for christ sakes)

Theres just no way I can test drive and get used to a fully loaded G, and opt for the less expensive one just cause. It was too much of a tease!

I must say that it is totally worth it. I knew going into it that I wanted all the bells and whistles (due to the fact that I bought it) and I am SO HAPPY that I did. I never realized how much a person could use navigation until I got it. I use it at least a couple of times a week.
Plus- the ladies LOVE IT. When they sit down and you pop up the screen they are like "DAMN! This guy's a PIMP." True story.

The other reason is that if you don't get all the bells and whistles, as soon as you pull the car off the lot you will wish you had it. Go 6MT, Navi, Aero and I promise you will be happy you did.

Personally, I didn't want the extras so I didn't go for them. Other than being 6MT with splash guards, I've got nothin' else. A lot of the premium package was stuff I just didn't care for, some I even found annoying (auto headlights position in relation to the other modes). NAV is the only option I would have sprung for but Infiniti didn't make that possible w/o premium so I sprung for none of it. I plan on making a car PC to handle that part in any case.
