Go with the Z tube and K&N drop in. The dyno numbers seem to support the fact that the stock airbox is pretty well designed.

g35thanh, I have the Z-tube and pop charger and its a blast, the sound is great and performance wise feels great. Make sure that you protect your a/c line.

does everyone realize how constricting the intake is even with the z tube?

look under your hood. see the so called "power duct". its sealed off. relatively no air actually getting to it. the actual intake part in the front where it sucks in the most air is half an inch tall. plus the fact that it makes 2 almost 90 degree turns plus another 160 degree going tinto the inake manifold. spend the extra money and get a cold air. trust me you will be satisfied witht the look and performance.

lol you idiot. a Z tube has curves, not bends. a real cold air would have bends.when air is traveling, small curves are not gonna hurt air flow. air can travel through any amount of space.

Heres my thoughts. I have a AEM cai. I think it works very well but the threat of water in the winter is not good! Im removing it today and Im going to make myself a new intake. I like the idea of the pop charger BUT the stock airflow location doesnt seem like it would be good enough. I plan to use a filter like the pop charger and make a box around it out of carbon. Then Ill make a port that goes down into the cold air location. Ill keep you guys posted on the progress.

ok well think about it.

Exhaust gases are air. The straighter the pipe, the better the flow, the more power you can produce.

Same goes with intakes. If you had the choice of sucking air though a straw with many bends making it hard to breathe or a large diameter tube with hardly any bends. Which would you go for.

I dont know how the weather is in other parts of the country like as far as snow goes, but here in houston we get a lot of rain. in fatc it has been raining for the past few weekes off and on. i havent had any trouble with water getting into my intake. Also most manuacturers put an oil on the filter to prvent rain getting through it. if you are drivnig through 4-6 nch high puddles i dont think getting water in your intake is what ytou are going to be too worried about.

my old honda almost got hydrolocked because of a cai. i even had a bypass valve on my aem and it did not keep the car from dying out. i left the car there for a day until the weather cleared up. good thing I didnt drive it. it was able to start back up the next day.

I understand your theory about a straw and a large diameter tube, but what does that have to do with cais? The Z tube isn't exactly straw size
