Default The Real Deal With Test Pipe Sound?

Ok im getting a y pipe (keeping stock cat back puttin electric cut out on thecar) now whats up with test pipes. I dont want a raspy sound so if i put test pipes i would have to put resonators on it or i would have to go with a high flow cat set up right

i dont want it to be raspy

I have the Kinetix Resonated test pipes and there is NO rasp to them. They are my choice hands down. LaBree Motorsports makes a set but, I have never seen/heard them. I think that HFM could tell you about them.

you should be ok as long as you get resonated test pipes... but they will probably cost as much as high flow cats

LaBree Motorsports probably makes the best quality resonated testpipes from what I've seen. However, they may not be the best price - you get what you pay for. The piping is as good as it gets, the welds are top quality and there is essentially no raspy sound. Combined with JWT and Borla true dual, the LBMS testpipes enhances the deep sound of the Borla and makes the overall exhaust sound louder.

Crawford, Kinetix or LBMS would all be fine resonated testpipe options. Note, resonators are essential to avoid a raspy sound. Any testpipe just by itself will have a raspy sound when used in a normally aspirated car. If you're going FI in the future, the resonators are not necessary.

I am going to post the dyno video of the 350Z that we dyno'd w/ test pipes. This way you can hear what the car sounds like through the entire RPM range. The baseline of the car was with intake and HKS axle-back exhaust. The after dyno that added 13hp and 12lbs/tq. to the wheels only had the test pipes added so they account for 100% of the gains. Remeber also that this Z has 19" wheels so that will take a bit away from the power since stock wheels are smaller. The test pipes are straight through design for max power and come with an O2 simulator if needed. They are 100% polished stainless-steel so that you will not get rust particles from the pipe...just give me 20 min or so for my webmaster to get it up and running on our site...

I just installed the kinetix resonated test pipes with nismo headers and borla exhaust, and everyone says it sounds awesome. Very quiet when I want it to be, and very deep and throaty when I rip it. No rasp either!
