Default Exhaust Systems w/ Silencers...info needed

Hey guys I have a quick and some what simple question. My next mod after the Holidays is over is an exhaust system. I have already made up my mind on that...the hard part is picking which one. My major problem with most of the exhausts for my car is the noise level. I want something fairly loud...but the accounting firm I work out would really look down on that sort of thing. Thats where I HOPE the silencer comes in. During the week I can run silenced and on the weekend I can have them out...or whenever. My question is do the silencers really work? Or is it just some marketing crap? I like the RSR, Tanabe, Apexi's N1, and the Pro-N1. Anyone with experience on this subject a reply would be extremely helpful! Thanks!

I run the silencers on my car for daily driving (read: to avoid the piggies). They work fine and greatly reduce the sound of the exhaust but still leave some loudness if you go for a 6800 rpm rush.

With the RSr, my silencers seem to keep the vehicle less loud than the factory exhaust . . . after I installed the turbo, I don't even need silencers . . .

Yeah, silencers make a huge difference. Definately not close to as quiet as stock for me, but still quieter than without the silencers.
