Default Resonated test w Nismo exhaust vs reson test with y pipe stock exhaust

If i had a setup with resonated test pipes and nismo exhaust (which comes with ti own y pipe i belive) or resonanted test pipes and a y pipe with stick exhaust which one would see better hp numbers.

Also wondering if the sound would be with the stock setup i have already heard the nismo setup i love it but jsut curious what it would sound like in a stock setup

Thanks i value you your opinions!!

I'd be interested to know this, also. I have a Nismo exhaust right now and I'll be removing it and installing just an aftermarket y-pipe with the stock exhaust. From what I've read, the y-pipe is the only real problem in the post-cat exhaust system, so replacing that should do the trick. (Stock muffler is supposed to be pretty good.)

Hopefully someone around here who'd done both setups can respond.

I have kinetix resonated test pipes and I just installed the y-pipe and still have the stock exhaust.

Here's the problem...the y-pipe I have goes from 2.5" at the "cats" to 3" at the outlet...but the b-pipe is back to 2.5". So, there is a big problem there.

I'm currently tracking down a b-pipe from Japtrix...(It has a 3" inlet then tapers down to a 2.5" outlet for the stock exhaust) I'll let you know how it goes...so make sure you're buying a y-pipe with a 2.5" outlet (I have ultimate racing?? I can't remember) or you'll be looking to get the b-pipe as well...

The car sounds great...nice a throaty, not too loud. The stock muffler works just fine, so there's no real need to pay more for something else, unless you're into looks.

If you go FI, that's a different story I believe.

Drones too loud on the freeway. I do enough long trips that I don't want that.

Ah crap, I just ordered a Gruppe-S y-pipe, but it indeed has a 3" outlet. I'm glad you mentioned it. Please let me know if you find that b-pipe. So you currently have your's rigged up with the stock b-pipe, or does it simply not fit?

It's currently rigged up with the y-pipe. I didn't really think about it until I stuck it on. So imagine your exhaust having a "a circle WALL" right after your y-pipe. Probably not the best thing for flow.

I have another thread in this forum with my install pics. Some people gave me a # for the people at Japtrix, and that's who I called today. I left a message, but no one got back to me yet. I'll let you know how it goes.

I may end up getting a y-pipe back exhaust and just going from there....my only concern is how loud it's going to be, because it's pretty loud now. (Loud as in perfect loud, not loud loud)

If you do a whole y-pipe back system, you might consider the Fujitsubo. I believe it uses 3" pipes, and the muffler sounds pretty much just like stock. A buddy of mine has the Fuji system with a Gruppe-S y-pipe, and it sounds pretty stock with maybe a touch more volume (if any). I think most people probably wouldn't know he had an aftermarket exhaust other than the friggin huge tips the Fuji has.

I'll look into the Fugi....I'm also checking out the Invidia N1.

Kinda funny...at this point, I could have just gotten a true dual and avoided this whole mess! Doh!

I guess in the end, the gains will be the same.

i just installed helix test pipes on an otherwise stock exhaust, it sounds great, the raspy sound that everyone talks about is barely noticeable, i'm gonna get a y-pipe next, probably from kinetix because their y-pipe has the same outlet size as stock.
