Does it only come in black like that? Can you get the same protection for the header without getting the header coated in black?

Those Crawford headers look awesome with the Jet-Hot 2000 coating.

I had my headers shipped directly to Jet-Hot from Crawford Z last week. Mine should ship back to me on Friday so I will have them next week. Can't wait to get them on. Thanks to seeing this thread I was also able to take advantage of the group buy on the Jet-Hot 2000 coating too.

If your interested in getting Crawford headers or any other headers Jet-Hot coated give Todd at Jet-Hot a call 1-800-432-3379. He has been great to work with.

You send your headers to Jet Hot. They coat them and send them back.

The Jet Hot 2000 product only comes in black, blue, or gray. Their regular Jet Hot product, though, comes in many colors as well as a chrome-like finish they call "Sterling". If you are a performance guy, Jet Hot 2000 is the way to go. If you are a "looks" guy, Sterling is a better looking coat. Check out Jet Hot's website for more info.

Since you can barely even see the headers in the engine bay, I figured a nice black coating would be nice and stealthy. Also, those polished and chrome-looking finishes do not last long. You'll have to keep cleaning and polishing them to keep them looking shiny and great. Most people will never do that, though, since it's such a pain in the rear to reach the headers once they are installed.

How much difference is there between the regular Jet-Hot and the Jet-Hot 2000, in terms of keeping down engine bay temps?

According to Jet-Hot's website (jet-hot.com) Jet-Hot Sterling, which is the basic coating protects up to 1300 degrees. Jet-Hot 2000 protects up to 2,450 degrees. Both types of coating should keep the temp down, but the 2000 has a much higher tolerance for heat. When I spoke with Todd at Jet-Hot he recommended the 2000 coating for headers used on the 350Z. If I remember correctly it was something like $20 more for the 2000 coating, well worth the extra money if you ask me.

Can anyone post some pics of the Jet-Hot Sterling and also some pics of the Jet-Hot 2000 in Blue?

I agree that it would be worth the $20 more for twice the heat protection, but I want to balance my engine between performance and looks, and it sounds like the Jet-Hot Sterling does that pretty well, however the Jet-Hot 2000 in Blue my also go well with my Daytona Blue Z and would perform even better so I dunno.

In the 350Z you really can't see the headers. Therefore in my opinion the color is not really important. However, that being said it would be neat to see them in blue. I got mine done in gray because it was the closest thing to silver, although now that I have seen the pictures of them in black I probably would just get them in black if I had to do it again. Most of my engine bay is either black, blue or chrome now.

in talking to the rep at jet hot the sterling will not hold up to the exhaust temps the z puts out....and actually stated that a z with the sterling had chipping/flaking problems but that there were no problems with the 2000 coating. its up to you but doing a header install would be something i would only want to do 1 time...and 1 time only

I've heard the same thing any shiny coating, especially polished headers. They simply don't stay looking nice without occasional cleaning. And like I was saying earlier, the headers are so hidden in the Z's engine bay and so hard to reach that I'll bet virtually no one ever gets back in there to clean them. Unless it's a show car where every little visual detail counts, then fancy looking headers on a 350Z are a waste of time.
