Talking My 1st Exhaust Mod!

I'm getting Helix Test pipes and was wondering if it was a DIY thing. The rest of the exhaust is stock and I was also wondering what kind of gains to expect. Will the motor bennifit from the added flow with the stock exhaust? Will it get raspy and obnoxiously loud?

Thanks!

I think the test pipes will get somewhere under 10 hp maybe. Apparently the most restrictive things are the stock cats and y pipe. So if you really wanted to improve the flow I would at least get a y pipe too. A gruppe-s y pipe is only about $275-$300

I'm not sure how raspy the test pipes will sound with the rest of the exhaust stock. Mine sounded a little raspy only in higher rpms.

It is a pretty easy install. It took some wiggling to get the stock cats out but it wasn't too bad. Just used a ratchet and some extentions and deep well sockets.

Talking Thankyou very much!

This probably the cheapest HP I'll ever buy then.

lol, it is very tight getting to the bolt that connects the header and the cat at the top. Some people managed to use long extensions and reach it from the engine bay, i found it was easier just to use a ratched and reach from underneath the car. I've been under the a few times too. One to install the helix test pipes, once to remove them and put the stock cats back on and again recently to put the hf cats on.

My Helix Test pipes are in my trunk right now. I'm waiting on several things before I install them. I'm planning on a DIM so I want to do it once, and only once.

1. I'd like to buy an exhaust and install it while I'm at it too.

2. I'd like to install them right after I have the car pass emissions. If I'm right, in MD you only have to do it once.

3. I'm also planning on getting a stock dyno run done sometime soon.

If anyone has a dyno sheet of just the pipes, I'd love to see them!
