Kepp in mind this is a project that will invovle some serious R&D......we are not just going to bang it out. IT will take a bit of time.

why are making a whole new lower manifold? Why dont you saw off the lower manifold halfway , and throw some IDB's on there. The stock lower intake manifold flows pretty good, only the upper needs some improvement.

IDB? Like independent throttle bodies? I believe this came up a long time ago, since there is a Tommy Kaira (sp?) 350Z with that. However, the throttle control system would have to be redone... like an entire new ECU to handle 6 throttle bodies rather than one. Ouch.

You can gain power off an OEM intake manifold, by buying the one's that are in the 05 300hp models.

Changing the runner length and size has it rewards and so does the volume that the runners feed from(plenum).
I guess one way to look at it is....... if you are sucking air through a coffee stirrer..... changing the size of the glass isnt that big of a change....you are still sucking through the coffee straw.
Just boring the intake runners out may not be the best solution either so this is where runner length comes into play.
Its going to be the total package that nets the bigger rewards.
Individual T bodies would require going to Pectel/EFI/Motec or Bosch style engine mang. and yes that would make some reall good gains.
Cheers

I am not sure at this moment about FI.
It will be tested on the engine dyno in a NA state.
Cammed and other modified NA setups will see bigger gains for sure.

BJ,

I think you should go for the whole smash and develop a variable runner intake for us. I wonder if we could modify the BMW system

Individual Throttle Bodies not independant. All you have to do is reconfigure the tps and you might not even have to do that. You just need to get the tps readings and make sure it is closing all the way and opening all the way. The hardest part of Individual Throttle Body install for us Nissans is finding away to trick the ECU because we wouldn't have a MAF sensor anymore. IDB is like the best bolt on mod you can do for an all-motor car.

Sounds excellent. I am also intrigued by the IDB setup as I've seen this on alot of the Best Motoring NA cars, is cost a prohibitive factor to this? And would the gains substantiate the cost? Anyways, if 350EVO makes this a reasonably priced setup I'll gladly fork over the cash... 20HP at least sounds nice but is this going to be at peak or an ALL AROUND gain? In other words will this, potentially, pull better numbers than the crawford cast plenum (claimed 20 hp at peak)?

Oh ya... Subcribing
