Question Which exhaust system would *you* pick if...

What exhaust system would you pick if wour criteria were...

(1) true dual cat-back system

(2) sound sililar to stock only *slightly* louder would be OK

(3) NO rice (!)

It would be great if those who have heard several might "rank" the ones that they know about.

Thanks a million,

Rob

From the clips I heard of the HKS, the sound is marginal at best. It hurts me to say this, because I thought the exhaust would be the best. It looks awesome, but isn't deep enough for my liking, though this may be different hearing it in person.

To be completely objective, I think the greddy fits this person's requirements to a "T"

I can't believe I spelled "here" instead of "hear" in my original post. Oh man, I just lost all credibility

Ranked by sound IMO:

1.) Greddy Evo2
2.) Borla
3.) HKS or maybe the APS

Ranked by looks IMO:

1.) HKS
2.) Greddy EVO2
3.) Borla or APS

I have the Injen duals, and let me just say that although they sound nice. They sound NOTHING like a stock(w/removed resonator like I had) or Nismo exhaust Z, or most y-pipe into muffler exhausts for the Z. Your only hearing 3 cylinders at a time per muffler, vs 6 going into 1 muffler. One thing I hate about the Injen is the lack of tone after a rev match off throttle-its nothing compared to the stock exhaust as the revs come down. When I installed the Injen and started the car I was like It was toned down from my stock exhaust with no resonator. Anyways sorry for rambling on, if your really stuck on keeping that sweet Z exhaust note, a true dual will not do it for you. They sound good, just different. And Ive heard the Borla TD in person, omg, its sooo quiet, and it sounds like a loose fart -woosshhh, instead of having some tone to it, I absolutely hate the Borla TD. Id say do the Injen for looks, or the Greddy EVO for sound.

Thanks to everybody who posted! You were all very helpful, and yet, I think that I really need to find some of these installations that I can actually hear (hey, sound clips are OK, but nothing beats the real thing).

Does anybody who has one of these systems installed live in the Fort Worth, Texas area?

Yesterday, I drove some 100 miles just right here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area... with the windows open (there went what's left of my hair!)... enjoying the early Texas Spring weather and the sweet sound of the stock exhaust... 'taint bad folks!!!

Great day to you all,

Rob

I'm waiting to get the APS true dual. Heard sound clips, reviews, and impressions from people who have heard it in person, and as much as I love the sound of our stock exhausts, I can't wait for the APS.

Alberto is right, the Injen exhaust is LOUD and has no resemblance to the stock exhaust note whatsoever. Right when I got the car I wanted to go true dual, and the only choices were Borla and Injen. Borla is too quiet for me, even at WOT its too similar to stock.

And if you're about looks, the Injen looks damn good IMO.

I agree with Zivman,

When i saw the pictures of the HKS Exhaust i thought it would have a mean/deep sound do it but it didnt . But dont get me wrong the HKS looks the best and the sound is good a little deeper then stock but i wanted it deeper. I have the RS*R and so i am guessing no other exhausts will be deep as the RS*R> But if your not into the loud/deep tone then i would go with the HKS.

i agree with everything you said except to buy the Evo for sound. i think there is no better sounding exhuast, nor better performing, for the price. if i had to choose based solely on sounds id buy the nismo.
