agreed on the hissing. My rasp has become bearable...it's more "screaming exotic" sounding rather than "ricey civic". I cannot stand the hissing though. It makes me feel like my car is a rattling clunker :P

no...i have the borla true dual. no more y pipe here. Everyone I talk to seems to think it's from the sound of high flow through the test pipes. It also seems that the only people with the 'hiss' have one thing in common...either test pipes, resonated test pipes or certain high flow cats.

this sucks we need a company that will make Hi flows that will

1. last more than 20k
2. similiar power gains to test pipes
3. no wierd a$$ noises
4. put the stock hanger eyelet on them
5. and not have to sel your car to buy them

it would cure everyones problems

I removed them in hopes it would cure some the hissing...but of course it didn't. You should be able to remove these without worrying about it. Several people on this board already have. You only should need to remove it if it's hitting your pipes though.

hehe this is our personal chat room apparently...

ya u lose some low end tq for high end horsepower... I like the borla true dual. It's nice after you finally get it all tweaked to where it doesn't hit other things lol.

Hi Guys--thought Id share a similar challenge/frustration....Im very interested in your opinion of the proposed solutions,

I had Meagans resonated test pipes on my G for approx two weeks...Sounded like BB's spinning...frustrated me completely...long story short when I tapped on the pipe with a wrench I could clearly hear the tingy sound..defective pipes...before I could get my high flows installed the other pipe completely BLEW apart...You get what you pay for...

OK so now Im excited to get my Kinetix installed...Overall sound quality is 100 percent better that BB's and 1/2 of a pipe.lol..not really wasnt funny I was pissed...Anyway...after several trips to muffler shops (bending of heat shields etc) I still have a fitment challenge on the driver side cat...Under heavy load it so very lightly taps the underbody or shield causing a wierd sound...like...dddddaaaaddaaadaa...

The Guys on G35 Driver say it's hitting because of the motor torqueing clockwise and recommend:

Engine Dampener---One thread said it worked wonders?
Wrap the cat with Header tape---?
Try a custom bracket to the OEM cat connection---? Doesnt this bracket move with the engine under torque...

All I really care about right now is the hiss! If that's gone for you, I'll likely join your bandwagon there.

Is this the noise you're all talking about?

http://members.dslextreme.com/users/g35driver/noise.wmv

I just noticed a few days ago that when I'm WOT there is a psssssshhhhhhttt noise similar to the rattling "hiss" noise above from 5k rpms to redline... That's probably a leak, right?

It's kind of hard to tell, but it's possibly the same noise. Mine only happens when the revs are dropping between 4K to 2K rpms. I always get it on deceleration in this rpm band...but I also can duplicate the sound by idle revving and on clutch-in decels above 4K.

What are your exhaust mods?

That is the exame same sound I get with my RT cats and Borla exhaust. I was told it wasn't a leak, but air resonance due to the higher flowing cat (the RT cat is almost a test pipe).
