Default Is 2" exhaust pipe too small?

title says it all- i was looking at the Invidia g200 and just about drowned myself in drool, but the only drawback that is making me think twice is the size of the primary tubes, coming from the cats to the muffler canister in the rear. the pipes are 2 inch (each); borla uses 2 1/4" (i believe), and i'm not positive on what size the injen uses. for all applications, n/a and f/i, shouldnt the pipe at least match the diameter of the test pipe/cat? i mean, the choke point of any flow is going to be the smallest diameter throughout the stream, so you could have 2 1/4 or even 2 1/2 inch exhaust pipe everywhere, but if there was one section/intersection that was smaller- that would be your limiting factor. why would invidia use the 2 inch? if there is/isn't much of a difference, why do the other popular exhausts choose the larger tubing? maybe it's just me, i'm rambling...anyone have ideas?

I would have to suggest a larger diameter, but if the Exhaust really trips your trigger a lot, go for it dude.

i have an odd feeling people dont buy this exhaust cuz its "too quiet". thats fine for me,,,

but i cant get over how gorgeous the build quality is... i'm still curious how it performs.

Are we talking Inner Diameter (ID) or Outer Diameter (OD)?

where did you find this measurement? if it is the ID size, then maybe the term "2 1/2 inch pipe" refers to the OD of that pipe. who knows...anyone getting ready to install a G200???

i cant understand how people who've bought their g200 havent checked this haha. its in your dang hands , uninstalled!!! lazy butts!!! check it!!!

all kidding aside... i will check and confirm and take pics and take sound clips once and for all. there just isnt enough people who have this exhaust that are willing to do this or something... if its really that great, then why not show it off and promote it to the Z community???

price is excellnt, quality looks superb... performance=??? maybe thats the catch hehe

i am interested in this exhaust as well, so i called invidia and asked them. for reference, the injen dual is 50mm to start, and then transitions to 60mm.

i am not sure whether the 60mm is id or od, but i would venture to guess that it is od. the id is probably 2.25, assuming they used 16 gauge (or 1/16" wall) piping.

so you called invidia and got the 2 1/2" measurement from them? word! so...we are concluding that the piping is most likely 2 1/4" ID and 2 1/2" OD? that's cool...i may have to consider this exhaust hard again. thanks for the input.

what clips? where did u find clips?
i found only one clip (by evolution auto) and it is crappy quality -- its basically a clip of idle and a blip.. cant tell much from it.

there was a girl that made her own clips but theyre offline now and u cant access it.

Depends on what you are doing with the car 60mm sounds fine for a mildly tuned N/A, a highly tuned N/A would need bigger. F/I definitely needs bigger.

My 2 cents.

yeah, this type of thing always happens cuz i'm never home. UPS doesnt have an option to "pickup from depot" right away. it would save ME money and UPS time in which the delivery guy has to uselessly drive to your house.

they say i can do "depot pickup" only AFTER 1st attempt was made.. thats so stupid. this is the only situation where wish that the weekends passed by faster.
