Default Greaddy EvoII install EVAP relocation. HELP!!

Well I have everything installed except the passenger side muffler. Why? That bloody EVAP unit! Since Greddy was kind enough NOT to include instructions on where to relocate the unit, I've come to you good people. Anyone out there who's done this install and can give a brother some help gets a Xmas card from me this year. cheers,

hey what you do is... you gotta take out that unit and put the black bracket that came in the box up to where the big heat shield useda be (where the stock exhaust canister was), then use the tubes supplied by greddy to extend the gas tubes, etc. there shouldnt be any gas that spills out. BUT there is an issue with the tubes touching the canister... what my dad and i did was get more pipe and extended it even more... we're still afraid it might catch fire but we wrapped it all with thermal wrap SOOO we're crossing our fingers and hoping nothing bad will happen

Thanks! I found a picture on one of the vendor websites that shows it's position. As for as the heat wrap goes, Greddy supplied a piece of thermal insulation which I'm guessing is used to protect the tubes for just that reason. Again, with no instructions given all I can do is guess.

Ok....I've got the EVAP unit out (Thanks Jeff) and now it's all bolted up to the chassis.
New problem........Greddy supplies 2 extension hoses for the Evap relocation but it looks like I'll need 3? Did Greddy not give me enough hose extensions or am I missing something?

you only really need to replace 2 hoses... the third one is long enough without needing to replace it...

Don't use the extensions. you only need to replace one of the hoses and reuse to of the stock ones.

Refer to the pic below:

The two red arrows point to two steel lines. Bend these upwards, or at least as straight as possible to keep the hoses off the canisters as much as possible.

The red and pinkish/purple lined hoses are the stock hoses being reused. The red hose is obviously the smaller of the two. For the pinkish/purple lined hose, use the stock hose that is double layered. I cut about 1/2" off each end to keep it more taught, so it didn't sag and rest on the canister.

The hose that is lined green is the one you would need to extend. Rather than extending the hose, go to Napa, checker, or where ever and get about 2-2.5' of hose with a matching inner diamter and use this. This will allow you to route this much easier up and away.

Thanks Zivman. Great illustration!
As far as the longer hose that extends into the chassis, I just pulled it out of the chassis and jammed it through another hole I found. It looks like it's just a vent hose.
Your hoses must have been longer on your car because there was no way the other two would extend far enough to reach the box without the extensions. :/

maybe I'm gonna sound like a complete tool when asking this... but I looked up the EVAP unit to see what the hell it was... Would you have to rehook it back up if you live in a state where its RARELY ever checked for smog regulations and what not?

it actually vents your gas tank and has some other functions I beleive, so I don't think it's something that you want unhook( It's not something like cats)

If it's not hooked up properly you will throw a code.

No their not. The Injen and HKS TI angle their tips to avoid the box. Nismo ,Stillen and a few other brands use the same configuration as the stock muffler, thus avoiding complications.
I just like the sound of the Greddy more then the others. It was worth the trouble.

It maybe takes an extra hour to relocate the evap box, and this is without any instructions or knowing anything about it. With what has been posted and what you have read, it should take you an extra 20 minutes. I don't know what you mean by "it seems like some people are not recieving certain parts" Trust me, you can relocate the box with what is included with the kit. I just prefered not to extend the hose and went out and bought a longer piece of hose to avoid that. I know that you only need to replace or extend one hose and can reuse two of the stock hoses(in the illistration the red and pinkish/purple are the hoses stock.) I actually shortened one of the stock hoses during the relocation.

If you like the look and sound of the greddy, don't let the evap relocation scare you away, it is added work, but nothing that is all that difficult.

ahhh... sorry misinterrupted this post and the few others that this guy posted about how to do this change... he made it sound like it was VERY difficult... if its only moving the box and lacks weilding and what not... then it should be WELL worth it for the Greddy! I haven't found a better sounding exhaust from video / sound clips on the net... but it does look as if the Injen has better HP / Torque gain...

no welding, just unscrewing the box from the stock location and using the supplied bracket to bolt it up between the mufflers. Then, reroute the hoses and you're done

Has anyone compared the HKS Ti exhaust to the Greddy Evo2 in person... the price difference is quite a bit... and for a college student buying the car was enough... LOL so saving a few hundred dollars would be a life saver...

With a little guidance from some of the kind people on this board (Zivman's the man) the install is fairly straight forward if a little more time consuming thaen other aftermarket exhaust's. My thing was that I started the install without any prior knowledge or help. The only way I knew that the EVAp box mounted to the supplied bracket and then between the 2 mufflers, was a pic I found on one of the vendors websites.
The Greddy is a nice piece of kit but the lack of any type of instructions is silly. Still, I'd do it all again if I had to.

I also want this info, I am buying a used kit tomorrow for my 350z and it doesnt come with the brackets or hoses. I talked to a tech at greddy and he told me they just get them in a box and sell them. They dont have the instructions nor the brackets or hoses to purchase seperately.

My Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust touches the EVAP canister as well (barely, the tip of the box put a small dent in the exhaust piping on the passenger side). Can you just remove the heat shield and wrap up the lines with thermal wrap, then zip tie them out of the way?
