Default HKS Ti TD exhaust

It just looks so sweet, but I have yet to see any HP/TQ #'s on it, and has the sound gotten deeper with some useage? The Stillen TD is still my favorite, only because of the power gains... it does look very plain and may be a little too subtle on sound. If this new HKS exhuast gives real 5+ HP/TQ at the rear wheels I would be sold (well, then price is an issue, still $1400?)

It definitely sounds different than any other exhaust for the Z, thats for sure. Id say its one of the few mods I installed where I did feel a difference. It is really loud when your foot is on the gas, but subdued while on the freeway because of the giant resonators (no droning). That may be reason enough to pull the trigger.

When I say huge resonators, i mean HUGE!

Great, I know it looks phenominally better than any other exhaust I have seen... I am confident the sound is nice and gets deeper with useage. So I assume the only before and after dyno's people have done is their butt? Sometimes the sound makes it feel faster, sometimes the $1400 dollars makes it feel faster (In the form of wishful thinking, creating positive outlooks). I believe you, you can't go wrong atleast top-end with a quality TD system.

I just wanna see a before and after dyno
Function before Form for me

You're the man Ben. Looks identical to the Stillen SS TD dyno, but 11.5 HP and 8.6 TQ at the rear wheels? Hope it's true, that would make this #1 for real gains. And I like how HP or TQ NEVER drops below stock, so no losses to get the gains. Look at the constant torque gain... (that is why it is just like Stillen, but better gains).

Somebody confirm this please Anybody got a private dyno comparison?

Take the dyno with grain of salt. Dynos are very difficult to get a real world measurement from. With all the exhausts out there, I wouldn't base your decision on the gains claimed by the manufacture - which I see you are asking for independent dyno comparison. I would base it entirely off sound and looks since the difference in performance gains are going to be so minimal that the only differences worth looking at are the sound and looks of the exhausts.

There are also tons of other factors that come into play with the dyno sheets. What type of dyno was this on? Was the car stock? if not, what other mods on the car? How many miles on the car? How many miles since the exhaust was installed? Were these SAE correct numbers? What were the conditions? Is this a comparison of the lowest stock numbers and the highest numbers pulled with the exhaust?

There are a million ways to manipulate the results of any numbers/graphs/charts/dynos- ever taken a stats class? I don't trust any numbers put out by any manufacturer. The good thing is, you can use these dyno #s to compare between manufacturers, because you know they all use the same techniques to inflate the results. I still say, base you final decision on the sound and look of the exhaust.

Exactly, couldn't agree more about dyno's. Comparison only data... and I would rather have 2-3 to average out than just 1. The HP/TQ posted "gains" are a nice FYI in a trivial sense to me, I am more concerned with comparing the "shape of the lines". Notice how the 2 are a mirror image almost, except of course the top line (with TD exhaust) climbs at a steeper rate, to a higher max horsepower yet always staying above stock. This tells me that nothing is wrong with the stock exhaust's flow characteristic, just needs a little more volume. The exhuasts that aren't uniform to stock show an actual change in flow, which is why the power increase isn't uniform at all RPM's (bad design IMO).

The only comparison I live by is 1/4 mile and/or track lap times. These show actual gains in an effective sense. And I disagree, there are noteable power differences on the vairous exhaust systems.

Yea, I agree with the dyno resluts..Its going to be soo minimal that you really need to base it off of looks, sound, and price. So, does anyone have any new clips of the exhaust fully broken in? I heard the clips posted up a while ago, but I would like to hear more, especially if the sound changes when its fully broken in! This is one of the ones Im looking at for my Z, along with the APS, and Invidia G200 titanium.
Thanks,
Jon

I'm with Dank! I'd love to hear any clips from this exhaust! The battle for me is between the Greddy Evo2 and this HKS!!
