Best Headers
26" vs 18" ?? There are 8" more on those tubes than the Topspeed?? That is extremely hard to believe. Yes, they do look longer, but maybe by 2 to 3 inches at most... But I admit I didn't measure either.
i don't understand all the doubt about the long tube header, I come from the honda world where we try to squeeze real power from little *** motors and if you ask anyone over there they will tell you a long tube is simply a better design, there are also numerous threads on shorty + test pipe vs race header (what we call long tube). always pointing to the RH.
From my limited header design knowledge: typically longer primaries will increase power in the higher revs Also there is alot that goes into header design, ideally you want port matched sizing and an equal pressure drop across the primaries(not equal length) the changes in the radius of the bend effect the flow rate, that is why the number 3 runner which is typically shorter (its closest to the collector) has the tigest radius bends to help create an equal pressure with the other longer primaries which are kept straight. If you look at some of the better headers you can see this happening. just my .02 but bottom line if you extend the header all the way back to where the cat ends you really open up alot more options - James
