Default Best Headers

If money was not an issue, what's the best set of headers out there? Price and HP/TQ.

Hard to say. Most people will say Crawford, though the most recent tests of the Alphawekrs show then to gain 17 whp at peak on average and cost about $500 less than Crawfords IIRC.

Everyone is going to have a favorite.

Crawford Headers... peak horsepower gains + huge torque gains down low.. area under the curve is what matters and Crawford Headers win that comparison hands down.

So when is the header shootout? Stillen has the highest TQ dyno I have ever seen, but don't wanna just go by their own results. 18.5 TQ

Nexus, $600, 14rwhp at the LEAST...Crawford hasn't proved themselves for the headers yet.

Are the ones on ebay that people are selling for $200 any good? I know some people have the idea that you get what you pay for, but the configuration and tube size matches all the other headers I've seen.

The one's on Ebay are Megan Racing. They are a replica of DC Sports...NO engineering when into them as far as design.

My friend...they are close enough...sorry to all the more expensive headers sponsors out there...

I bought my Headers off ebay that are made by TopSpeed for $225 shipped from a guy who sold his Z, they were never used. Was I skeptical, hell yes, until I unwrapped them anaylzed the cuts, fitments, tube diameter, welds, grinding, polishing and over quality of the T-304 stainless steel.

Do you have to watch out for imitators, yes. Will you get screwed, mostly likely no...they take a top notch header with all the R & D to back it up, create a special jig to build the header, buy stock SS, make the necessary cuts, use professional welders, and whhaaallyya, you have yourself a knock off.

It's not rocket science and there won't be anyone knocking on their door stating, quit cutting and welding SS tubes together...

Would I buy more complex products off EBAY, like a knock off LSD or cam shaft without knowing a genuine source, hell no!! Guess that's why I bought my HF cats from one of our sponsors...because I couldn't find a non sketchy deal out there.

The battle of the HEADERS

1. the alpha headers are superior to the dc, topspeed, stillen, and crawford headers as far as construction, but it's only marginal...very marginal. as a welder i can tell the placement of the cuts, fitting, and welds are absolutely beautiful.

2. crawford's pipes do seem to be truly equal in length, even more so than the alpha headers, which seem to be pretty damn close.

3. in all honesty, i believe the more expensive Headers HP gains over DC or TopSpeed do not justify the extra cost. but, if you have the extra doe, then why not buy the best.

4. if you are truly a Z owner, by nature, you look for the B-B-B! i took my extra cash and i'm sending my stuff out for a JetHot coating, which in the end will most likely make my headers perform as well or better than the others. But that's just my .02 with JetHot backing me

I'd like to see proven dyno results of the Topspeed headers, since they are said to give gains similar to the Alphawerks for 1/3 of the cost. Alphawerks has already proven their products out IMO.

there are dynos around, just search - or maybe 'motor' over to another site and search. I think average gains are around 10-12 hp.

I've read there was a Group Buy on the Alphas for $675 + shipping.
