I just ordered the HKS yesterday from Greg over at gscmotorsports. Should hopefully have it by the end of the week for a weekend install. Can't wait!!!

Did any of you guys do your own install? Just wondering if you had any problems or issues. Any advice or tips on doing the install would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

I supposedly got the last one they had. GSC doesn't even advertise the HKS for the Z, but I saw in there "brands carried" list that they are an HKS dealer and they are pretty much the closet internet dealer to me. So by chance I emailed them and Greg replied stating they had one left...which is now mine.

He emailed me this morning saying it's going out today.

edit:
350zonlinestore is advertising in the vendor section that they have one in stock. It's been up awhile so I don't know if they still have it or not.

You might also check with avalon racing and intensepower.com

Thanks Zexy. I've looked at your thread several times. The ti tips look hot on your ppw Z!!!

Yours and other HKS owners' comments were a BIG factory in deciding to pony up the extra$$$ for the HKS. It seems the HKS is one of only a few exhaust that everyone who's bought it is extremely happy with it from the start. I've yet to hear/read any bad things about it....other than the price that is.

I was going to get the Injen ses, invidia g200, or the nismo. But after several weeks of research...I eliminated the ses for problems with fiber packing blow-out and possible flow restriction around the built-in silencers. Some have reported problems with drone also.

What little I've found out about the g200 leads me to believe it would need a custom h or x pipe and it's tone is kinda close to stock so I marked it off my list. As far as the nismo...most people really like it but I figure for a bit more $$$...I can have a little more "exotic" exhaust that's a bit more unique.

What few clips I've heard of the HKS really impressed me. Plus i really like the dual canister look also.

Seriously not trying to be an as*, but why did you get your JIC Ti first and not a high flow y-pipe first? From what I've read here, most agree that besides the cats, the stock y-pipe is the biggest flow restricter in the oe exhaust.

Peformance increases from any exhaust on a na Z are pretty minimal, so you have to weigh other things as well.

That said, from a performance perspective, imo the HKS should yeild similar dyno results as other well designed true dual systems. It also weighs 14#'s less than stock as well.

By far and away the biggest assets this exhaust has is it's sound, looks, and extremely good build quality. Plus it actually fits better than the stock exhaust.

Are you serious? I purchaced this exhaust because I track the car, not show it like you probably do. My point being is that the HKS yeilds great performance along with other exhausts like the Borla, for example. You don't gain THAT much performace from exhaust anyways.

I'm telling you man. Definately worth the $$ in every way. I know two other people who have it as well and they are very pleased. The tone is ONE OF A KIND as well. Sounds like an exotic. I'm very happy w/ my purchase. Can't go wrong with HKS quality anyways. The construction is awesome. Thanks alot for the comments!
