Serious problem discovered when installing Injen exhaust (long)
Finally receive my Injen ses1985c.....(ptuning-824.99)
Take it to my installer. Install goes fine exhaust looks fine out of the box. I look over almost each piece welds look good, nice and shiny etc.
Installed in bout an hour. They fire it up......sounds good, real deep, nice tone, looks sharp, im stoked. They leave it running and raise it back up to check for leaks. Start at the front all good then:
WHOA!........water and air are shooting out of the drivers side mid pipe/rear section flange. The installer was like WTF????? Its dripping condensation....and air is just hissing and forcefully leaking on the inside of the flange back towards the front of the car. Upon closer inspection we realize that its not the gasket or that connection......
The problem is that where the rear flange on the mid pipe is connected to the piping it is only welded half way around. In other words.....there is a bare pipe seam with NO weld on it....just to tack (sp) welds but no bead. The installer is like: "Looks like a friday at 4:55 weld job" *chuckle chuckle*
So I was pissed. Im like "now what?"......Well we leave it all on there and I figure Ill just deal with Injen on this.
Well to sum it up..........I drove around for a week with this leak....while I emailed and spoke to a guy at Injen, sent him pics, emailed, talked......finally he is like alright were gonna send you a new mid pipe.....we'll charge you $50, you send us back the faulty one.....we credit you back the 50 when we get the pipe back....IM like OK.....do it.
Got the new pipe...installed 2day....everythings fine....I love the exhaust.
I was pretty pleased with how Injen handled the situation....and that is mostly the reason for my post.
I got a replacement pipe in about a week....i had to prove the problem and follow up several times, but they were pretty good about it.
So anyone getting a new SES system....check ALL the welds. Hopefully it was a fluke.
